26 | Savinho - 2025/26

As I keep stating even new winger signings will struggle with what Pep wants and expects from them. Replacing him isn't going to change anything in that regard. Sav does need to improve but is still more than capable and we do need the depth.
Yeh, imagine expecting them to do some defensive work, usually after they've lost the ball, or asking them to get a cross in in the vicinity of one of our players, to pass to a teammate, to have a shot that isn't as powerful as a back-pass. Savinho, especially, isn't capable and if I don't see his gormless, lost face again (usually appealing for a non foul), it will be too soon. I see the usuals are getting all indignant about the criticism - because they "see something in him" - well news alert - this is the prem and you can only carry dead-weights for so long. He's had a decent run to now see he's nowhere near the required standard, nor likely to be. Sorry if that offends - but the way he plays, offends me.

We didn’t turn down €70m! If the media report of supposed bids doesn’t mean there was a bid there was one bid €43m!

The stick this kids getting is pretty mad! For me I see something from him I’m giving the kid all this season and if he improves on last season stats that’s good enough for me because he still be only 22 next season! Need to see more from Doku for me because it’s his 3d season
1 goal and 9 assists (with majority against much inferior sides) in 35 premier league appearances says otherwise. His impact on most games and in particular the big games is virtually zero. Attitude stinks and is softer than a mr whippy.

Yes he has some raw dribbling ability and ball skill but that alone isn’t going to get you far as a premier league player - as it’s showing with him.

Should have taken the money, don’t know how you can argue any other way. I’m convinced he’ll be on loan somewhere next season and his city career will fritter away. Of course I will be more than happy to be proven wrong.

Maybe loan him back to Girona, he might save them from relegation

I am kidding, just keep him on the right side of the field and lets hope he will get better & better.

He doesn't need to reach Sterling or Mahrez level, if he can reach Jesus Navas that will be fine for this season.

Still only 21 years old. Clearly the boo boy atm. Hes inconsistent but it’s so evident the quality’s there.

Issue is right at this moment all of our wingers are young and inconsistent. But he’s the one we got the big money offer for so now he’ll get pelters every time we don’t perform up to scratch going forward.
He was getting caned on here long before the Spurs offer, because of his lack of product.

Should have loaned him out - let him compromise another team's results while the decision on whether he's worth keeping is made.

All 3 of those were criticised just as much as Savinho.

People on here hated Sterling and Mahrez.

Sterling did drop off there's no doubt about that, FFS however kept going and we sold him too early.

What is evident however is that the fans of Manchester City have been infiltrated by an embarrassment of fan boys who would jump ship if their players/s get sold.

Let's call it the Palmer Factor ;-)

I think you could almost forgive Savinho for being absolutely crap at taking his man on and even worse at picking a cross or shooting if he put the graft in, came back to defend, pressed with purpose and went into 50/50’s with any steel about him. But he does none of that.

Ndiaye for Everton should be an example for him, he worked so hard in that game against us and he was decisive on the ball.

Savinho is worse than wingers who play for bottom half of the table sides, which is why we’re not as good as we used to be.

Yeah some fans think just because he might of got his head turned let’s stick it to him his now in games he doesn’t score an hatrick! Sorry that’s childish by those fans.. back the player yeah be critical of some of his play but he is still very young!
I’d settle for 3 good fucking crosses

I don’t really think hope is a good plan

If I see him throw his arms up to the crowd to make more noise one more time after watching him give the ball away 700 times in one half of football im going to do nothing other than moan on here and in the ground, the fucking prick.

Football wise he's not good enough, nor will he ever be but whilst he's got the blue (or rainwater grey) shirt on ill support him, until he waves his arms to us again obviously, then he can fuck right off

He’s got zero interest in grafting for the team , as he illustrated against Arsenal when he came on for the last five and sauntered around not giving a shit .

Do we know who it was that sanctioned this transfer ? Whoever it was needs to be made to watch his performances for us and then explain exactly why he chose him.

So what’s your opinion of his season and his city career so far ? He is not an hate figure for me as I think he is mid tabke and that’s about it .
His season has barely started, his career so far has been underwhelming. He isnt currently at the standard we need but he is a 21 year old with immense talent, we would have been brain dead not to bring him in when we did.

Criticism is absolutely fine, there is plenty to criticise in his performances but anybody making career defining assessments of him at 21 years old after 18 months here is a fucking idiot.

He isn't that bad as you describe Savinho as. The rest of the attackers weren't brilliant either including the substitutes.

To be fair, he got into La Liga team of the year when we signed him.

We messed up paying another CFG club in Troyes a measly £25m for him when in reality he was £40m+ based of that season. They got relegated, needed the cash, and the entire Troyes fanbase became CFG out. Not great PR for the project in the end.

Where the club messed up big time was not recognising we already had a pet project in Doku, and adding another in Savio was just going too much for the club to handle for where we wanted to be.

We needed ready made and Olise was there but we didn't go down that road and instead went down the Spurs road of buying potential in the hope that they come good.

Elite level clubs don't and should never act like this.

Another one of Guardiola s great decisions taking Doku off who had chased everything and worked his nuts off, for this time waster. Cost us a 4 point swing in the title race !

I think the issue we have with all three wingers is they are all projects for want of a better word, individually they would all be fine if they were paired with a couple of high flying wingers to take the pressure off. We could then afford them sometime to realise their potential(and all three have huge potential) but the three of them are our main starters and none of them are producing. We should have had a much better succession plan to Sterling/Sane/Mahrez but we have failed here for whatever reason.

We prob need to let go of one of them and then buy two finished products while we work with the other 2 to get up to speed. We are very good at getting them one v one with the fullback but they produce very little, you compare with Saka, Salah, Mbeumo and a few others when they go one v one you just know they are going past them to create danger and potentially score. We need at least one winger getting 10-15 goals a season to allow the others to develop.

I know Pep might not have the last say, but of course he has the loudest.

I think there is less than 5% chance that Pep told them to accept the 70m and Ferran & Hugo said no.

He is a shadow of the player that was at Girona. Us buying him made a lot of sense.

Refusing to sell him for a rumoured 70m is a different story.
