26 | Savinho - 2025/26

When I was about 35 I got a text on a Friday night after about 6 pints and I stupidly agreed to play a match the following day despite not having played for a year or two.

After 5 mins I realised I'd made a big mistake.

That's exactly how I felt it looked for Savinho today - totally out of his depth. For the first time I actually felt sorry for him. He needs some time out of the team to rebuild his game.

Yeah his confidence is totally shot.

I thought that

Gets away with it when we are 3-1 up, but a game where its still level or getting beat he will get pelters.

I’ve said it for months - I genuinely reckon, if tallied up, he’s done more “gees up” to the crowd than he has goal contributions since he joined. And I’m not taking the piss.

I just don’t understand why we turned down Spurs’ offer for him.

The closer to the goal he gets the worse he becomes; he can’t shoot at all, plus nearly every attempted cross is just hit and hope.

No way he is our level, i feel sorry for him but I think that he wanted the spuds transfer says enough about his mentality.
Yes he is young but he gives me nothing where I think he will break out.

I cannot figure this lad out what is it Pep sees in him he is absolutely Shit

Tbf it's not just Pep, it's the Ballon D'Or / Kopa Trophy voters, la liga TOTY voters, Pep, Viana, Txiki, Frank, Levy and allegedly Ancelotti and Perez vs some blokes on Bluemoon.

Still 21, still 28 G/A in la liga and PL in 2 seasons. Not looking great right now but it's nothing particularly unexpected from 21 year olds who missed half of preseason injured. Let him get a run of games (maybe not till the back end of the season) and he'll lock down to RW and we'll have to find someone new to jeer.

Oh dear.

Someone needs to talk to him about slowing the fuck down and playing simple football sprinkled with genius, not trying to show his genius every time he touches the ball.
He knows hes under a lot of heat so hes trying to do something. Poor kid, the pressure is getting to him.

We seriously need to stop asking this again and again.

30 mil base.. 40 mil add ons (mostly impossible to get ones)

And even that 30 mil in installments.. Club told Levy fuck off! It is what it is..

I just posted this MOTM thread from Ncastle at home last season in the Nico thread:

…but look at the positive comments and votes for Savinho. And Ncastle were very good last season so it wasn’t like a game against relegation fodder or lower division in the Cups.

Where’s that Savinho gone? Come on kid, you’re fucking miles better than you’re showing at the moment!

Good point but he was official MOTM vs Villarreal two weeks ago. It's not like he's been rubbish for months. He made several mistakes in a row yesterday and looked out of place, but he was fine in the final minutes and created 1-2 decent chances.

IMO, he will come good and many in this thread will be saying they were wrong to write him off.

Anyone betting against Pep's judgment is a brave soul. Unlike Phillips, Pep plays him because he sees his quality. Pep doesn't gift regular starts to players who lack quality.

How good Savinho can become is anyone's guess. I have some doubts about his character, but he's still very young to draw firm conclusions about his future.

He half hearted did it (went to do it and stopped mid way) when realised what he was doing. About half way through the 2nd half v Villa. To put it mildly he didn’t get the reaction he wanted

It's never gonna work out for him here, is it?

Still befuddled as to why we turned 70m down for him after paying 40 a year before. He may have a very high ceiling, but he needs a lot of work and is far from a sure thing.
We didn’t turn down £70m
