Could well be that we ship off Cancelo and give Couto the back up role. Personally think it's all we need given the reliability of Walker and how important to the team he is. It's what we should have done in the first place with Maffeo before we went and signed Danilo.

Was just about to post something similar. It feels like Cancelo is done. Couto is young, but there must have been a pathway offer to the first team.

It would be a risk if Walker were to pick up a big injury, but we would have to be incredibly unlucky in that regard given how good his record has been.

Perhaps a cheap experienced stop gap as a backup to compete with Couto would be sensible, but the idea of getting another £40m+ option like Semedo (assuming Cancelo goes) is just throwing money away again in my opinion.

Same article says that Barca and Bayern were both after Couto and willing to offer him first time game time, so he's obviously got a bit about him.
