Don't buy a left back, I don't want to see Cancelo on the bench.

Playing him out of his natural position is better than keeping him on the bench which could force him out.

Lets keep our talented skilful players happy.

Cancelo's biggest issue is his unpredictability. It seems none of the players really know what he's going to do next on the ball which is why he only has 1 assist to his name. He has all the technique but I don't see him as an indespensible member of the squad. A new LB is vital regardless.

Had a good game again last night, you only have to see how easily the arse got in behind Walker when he came on to see how well he played. For me I would play him ahead of Walker for most games

You can’t though because the left side is a far bigger problem than the right. The other 2 are nowhere near the required standard therefore Cancelo is first choice left back until we buy a proper one.

This comment might seem harsh, I know he's getting popular and I do like him overall, but he's got miles to go yet. As nice as his attacking play is at times, he still has 2 assists in 50 games for the club and he's 27 in May.

He is seriously lacking in end product, it seems like he can do everything right until the final ball, which is almost always a total let down.

He is never going to replace Walker on the basis of good midfield play alone. Walker is the best defender in the world in open space, and his ability to mark pretty much 1/3rd of the pitch on his own and shut down breakaways and counters is absolutely crucial to the way we defend, and the backbone of how we play against anyone who sits back against us.

So to replace Walker his attacking contribution needs to be Dani Alves-esque, and it's nowhere near yet. He needs to start churning out assists and goals and being one of our biggest attacking weapons if he's going to be first choice RB.

Also for anyone praising his defending, I'd suggest rewatching the Arsenal goal yesterday...he's bypassed like a cone on the initial attack and then doesn't get within 5 yards of Martinelli which is why he has all the time in the world to put a good cross in. Then the ball comes out and he's caught sleeping so Martinelli has a free run to the by line to put the cross in with no defender near him.

Seriously, watch him during this and tell me he's a good defender -

I’ve been one of his biggest critics especially defensively, sometimes it’s at a shocking lazy level, but he seems to have improved on this point. But I hear you overall, there’s room for growth.

Pretty difficult to see what he alone could do defensively on that goal. Walker is great because of his pace and it’s obviously a huge asset to the team due to the lack of it throughout the side. Let’s not make out he’s some impeccable defender though. The amount of times he switches off and lets a man ghost in at the back post or dives in needlessly is hardly the work of a world class defender.
