The exact sort of attacking output we have been looking for since he joined. Walker out for a few games might give him a new lease of life now hopefully.

Perhaps his best performance so far. He had shown glimpses of his attacking abilities in previous games too. But, he is a defender first and foremost and has to prove he is top-notch to be ahead of Walker.

Mentioned before if Pep can find a way to push him higher up the pitch, whilst lessening his defensive burden, Cancelo can shine.

Some Blues were calling for Pep to play Ake on left-back, so we transit to a 3-man backline on the attack, allowing Cancelo to push further forward. Nice to see it works well for us and genuinely brings out the best of Cancelo.

That’s what happened last night and how we’ve been playing for a long time.

Before it was Walker sitting back with two CBs and Mendy pushing forward. Last night it was Ake sitting back with the two CBs and Cancelo played higher up. The latter is a lot better because Cancelo is much better on the ball than Mendy imo.

We have just seen the player pep had hoped for , can give us so much more going forward.

One of the best performances in a match from any our players this year.. Hopefully he can continue...

He must be in top 3 players this year. Along with stones and dias

He has all the ability to be one of our best players.

Not sure if it reflects badly on our wingers but he is by far the best player 1v1 in the squad. It's worth fiddling with the positions to get him close to the opposition goal.

Good performance last night from someone I have not liked since he joined (mainly his temperament to be fair). Good to see.

Still too erratic with the last thing he does. So far in his City career his final cross or shot is almost always shit after brilliant build-up play (look at the second goal last night, it was a shit cross defended poorly). But it’s the danger he provided in such quantity driving forward that made such a difference last night, and the goal came from that.

We hardly get any penalties and aren’t scoring enough goals because our wingers don’t drive into the box directly at goal. They just slow it down far too much and want to come inside. Cancelo showed them what they should be doing last night.

He should only play right back now, shown the quality he can have on the right in his proper position.
