27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

He might not have been number one on our list, but he was never a panic buy. We’ve shown many many times in the transfer windows that we would rather sign no one if we can’t find the right player. We refrained from signing a Haaland backup or Rodri backup, because we couldn’t find the right player or that the price was too high. As we signed Nunes, it means we’ve done loads of scouting, background checks and considered the transfer fee to be fair. The people running our club aren’t morons.

He did one (technically two) mistake today, but has been one of our best players this season. Apart from Dias I couldn’t think of a single player who hasn’t made a mistake this season

Him being one of our best players this season is the reason we are where we are. A player as limited as Nunes should never be playing for us.

Couldn’t find a Haaland backup?

Victor Osimhen went to Galatasaray on a year loan from Napoli.

He’s scored 10 goals so far this season in Super Lig.

And we were never ever linked with him, which probably indicates that the club didn’t want him
