27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

Tbh it’s surely a bit embarrassing for Grealish and Doku that our best left winger this season has been Nunes. Nunes should play even when they’re both fit. Grealish’s last goal was in 2023 wasn’t it? The “he brings control” argument only works for so long before we have to just admit he hasn’t been good enough. Nunes is proving to be far more productive than him.

Never been his biggest fan . The last few weeks though there are definitely signs of improvement amongst inconsistency and he has some fantastic attributes going forward and turning defenders. This season could be huge for him if he finally gets rid of the raw edges . Fingers crossed because we need some flair and pace upfront for sure .

“The new Kalvin Phillips”, ‘Panic buy’, ‘He doesn't have the level for our team’ lol

After the “Plodri”, “Mahrez” and so many other lessons, some still haven't understood that it takes time for most football players to adapt to a new team and especially a Pep Team.

Matheus Nunes has the potential to become a world-class player, I said so when he arrived and I'll say it again today, and he even has the potential to become a central element of our midfield. Why do you think Pep opposed his move to Athletico Madrid at the start of the season?

He has everything it takes to be a modern midfielder adapted to the new, evolving style of football: speed, dribbling, passing, stamina, vision of the game, and all he lacked and still lacks a little is an understanding of our system of play and, in particular, how to play without the ball.

The Rodri's case should have taught some people a lesson, but apparently it didn't.

A 50m+ player, once labeled "one of the best players in the world" by Pep, slowly turning out to be a very good player as soon as he gets consistent gametime. Who would have thought?

Yep. I remember slating ake over and over but it became very clear all that ake needed was a solid run of games. Took a year to materialise but he looked poor until that happened.

Looks like same now for Nunes.

Another good performance. One of the few that are consistently putting in performances at the minute. Would like to see him in the middle of the park in a box to box role personally, but he's performing out wide for now and with the injuries we have that's where I'm sure he'll stay for the time being.

Grealish provides over control but still somehow manages to lose the ball nearly as often as Doku
