We can be too quick to condemn players, and also too quick to laud them. Those early opinions then set into stone and great performances, for some, are ignored, and poor performances, for others, glossed over.

Nunes has not been a superstar since he arrived but, this season, he has been a really solid, flexible squad player with good numbers. If he has found his position as an attacking full-back, with a really solid defender alongside him, we will have a lot of physical ability on that side of the pitch. Nunes can get up and down all day long, with pace, and can assist really well. With Khusanov as the right CB, it's a lot for any left winger to deal with.

It is always about combinations. Khusanov and Nunes played really well. Savinho was a consistent threat but did not do his defensive work to the same level in the second half. If he can bring that consistency, we will be very dangerous on that side of the pitch.

I still wonder why Pep doesn't prefer him in midfield over Kovacic. He is going to give a lot more legs into the midfield alongside Nico than any of the other options and he seems to like going forward whenever possible.

It's a strange one why pep won't play him midfield, he spent a lot of last night playing as some sort of "false" 8, drifted into midfield and did well carrying the ball through the lines, I thought he played better than Nico in the position he was supposed to be playing, it's weird pep won't play him there

Nunes looks much more comfortable in these games when the opposition is prepared to play an open and expansive game and there is therefore more space for him. When the opposition drops off and it becomes cat and mouse, however, he generally looks less comfortable. If our new attack means we look to stretch play and we have more such games, then he could yet have a future with us.

Maybe it’s because I’ve seen so many shite performances from Walker and Rico this season but I am really warming to him. It’s unlikely we are going to buy 2 x RB in the summer and I think he is the type of backup we need, especially if we are looking at our style being a bit more high-energy. He can play all over the pitch and while he can be accused of many things, I don’t think you could ever accuse him of ever giving less than 100%. Will never be a superstar but he can be useful.

Ther type of player every top club needs, great squad player, never going to be a regular starter but will always come into the side and do a very good job.
What game are you watching ;
Never seen him do a half decent job, never mind a very good one.

Alongside phillips , the most puzzling, needless signing of our modern era

I actually really like him at full-back too, but I'd caveat it by saying ideally he needs Khusanov inside him for cover. A less mobile central defender and it becomes a weak spot.

I would have let him go last Summer, because I dont think he's good enough as a central midfielder, but the versatility and work ethic has really impressed me. Become a very useful squad player and still has a lot of room to improve.

Philips made sense at the time. Just a shame he got injured so often and was always making up for lost time.

Nunes isn’t good enough to be our right back and he’s not good enough for our midfield. Truly puzzling.

But he is good enough as a squad player until we can find someone better which will hopefully be this summer

Phillips was puzzling in so much that yes we knew he was supposed to be a rodri cover , but he was so far off standard he was never going to make it.
My leeds cousins laughed their heads off when we bought him.
My uncles wolves in laws were just truly puzzled when we got nunes

In a settled team with Rodri back he could be utilised well at RB, has the physical aspects however I question his concentration levels.

Always have my heart in my mouth when he has to do any defending

On the ball he’s a good right back but surely we’ll replace that position in the summer so he’ll go back to being a bench player

We should get rid

He’d got the England player of the year when we brought him in. It made total sense as a complement / backup to Rodri.

Anyway, let’s not go back on the Philips debate :)
