He did a good job last night, but it continues to surprise me how he was never used centrally in a deeper position during our crisis. When he inverts he's very good at creating himself half a yard and using his pace to find some space. Considering it's not his position he does very well at RB, it's just that final 10% he needs to work on in both parts of the pitch. His movement is excellent, it's then picking the pass and delivering the right ball into the area. He's quick in defence so needs to learn when to get tight and when to drop off rather than dive in and get caught out. Overall he has been one of our bright sparks this season, which is credit to him but also evidence of how bad things have been!

His distribution is appalling.

It's his first touch. He's got everything we need in midfield but pep doesn't trust his first touch in tight situations. Playing in a position where a bad touch can easily lead to a goal it's unlikely to be something he's willing to bend on.

There's no reason why it cannot be improved. He's got the technical skills I believe it's mainly a mental thing, he's not switched on all the time and that's where the poor touch or a poorly weighted ball comes from.

Very good game especially in the 2nd half where he was challenged defensively, for me motm contender. He showed passion, wanted the ball and was calm in pressing situations to find a way for his movement and dribbling.

I think he gained some confidence like never before since he arrived.

Of course will never be the first name on the teamsheet but if he plays like that he has a backup role safe if not more.

I agree. And I don't like the shytee thrown at him here. I think with his pace he could be a half decent box to box mid as he travels pretty well with the ball.

If he's happy to be on the bench but steps up like he did last night, he's a useful member of the team who offers something going forwards with his overlapping runs.

Defensively he's not prime Walker level, but he's much better than the pundits favourite TTA and I would say slightly more effective than our own Rico due to his height.

Think we have been spoilt a bit by Walker who at his best was arguably the best RB in Europe and like many of our recent players one of a kind with no younger equivalent.

I thought he was very good against the spuds. To my mind he makes most of his mistakes defensively when he commits to a tackle too often.

He inverted so much he basically was a CB for many parts of the game.

Agree with others, the first touch is why Pep doesn't fully rate him.

You could "kinda" see it in the Spurs game, for even like 0.5 seconds if your not switched on to your surroundings, he can put himself in a tight situation with a not perfect first touch.

Luckily his body is strong so he has realized he can shield in a panic, but he also gets no experience in midfield. Like 1.5 years and less than 5 games? How do you develop with that.

I'd like to see him there in the cup game maybe? If not there, then play him RB again to gain confidence.

I'm afraid that there's something that's now painfully obvious about this guy. His passing is not, finally, very good. Several times in the Spurs game he gave poor passes, a couple of which led to dangerous situations. And that break just before half-time — that pass was criminal. There were two City players over on the left (Haaland and I think Marmoush), both with a clear sight of goal in front of them. Both being played onside by the Spurs defender on the near side. Even a halfway good pass would have picked them out. it was badly overhit, and so took them both out.
A squad player, at best. And even then I wonder whether we haven't got someone better coming through the ranks.

Edit, slight correction watching it back: defensively, he did ok in the second half.

For the amount he cost and what he’s contributed, fits nicely in my all-time worst City X1 …. that includes anyone from the mid to late 90’s.

More examples of people with their minds made up seeing whatever suits them.

Nunes was fine. Marshalled Elanga well, rightly subbed off to eliminate the threat of a red after taking a yellow he had to take to stop a counter, we were poorer when he went off. Not even close to the problem today.
He is our best RB.
