Let's face it, Pep stabbed him in the back. Just like he did Kalvin Phillips.

No professional player deserves that.

His arrogance is appalling.
Oh come on, Phillips literally never performed once for us. He was terrible and that's on him, not Pep. It's not as if he's left to go and prosper elsewhere.

The Nunes comment was harsh, but on other threads a few of us have been calling for us to be a bit more ruthless - being honest about Nunes not being good enough is part of that. He's also one who's probably out the door in the summer too, so if we can get a few decent games out of him at right back in the meantime then all the better.

The ruthlessness absolutely does have to extend to a fair proportion of the rest of the squad as well.

Pep humiliated Phillips publicly. It was rank bad man management that left Kalvin with a mountain to climb to regain any credibility as a player. He will forever be remembered for Pep's comments.

It wasn’t even about his ability, it was about his weight. It was blatant bullying.

He also refused to play Nasri and Toure in his first season because they were overweight and called them out for it. It's part of his requirements.

Although looking at the fitness levels of the team this season I'd say something's gone wrong with the conditioning

I am 100% sure we would be far better off with him in midfield than the shitty combinations we have there. If Pep wants to insist on a 3 midfield rather have him than Gundogan/ Bernardo with Nico there. At least someone has pace and can attack the box while 1 is sadly too slow now and the other is refusing to even look at the goal.
I honestly hope for Nunes to leave. I think he is a good guy but under immense pressure while doing the best in positions he has never played he is still getting criticized. Funny that he was our most effective winger and also our best RB as a CM.

Pep doing what he is doing again. He will criticize everyone but keep playing his Foden - KDB - Bernardo zero goal threat system in top games

Did he come back overweight.

Reading the full transcript, I felt that Pep was complimentary. Reactions on here can be very extreme at times, as if the headline is the full picture.

Who needs the transcript or a headline (not sure where you saw that) when you can just listen to him saying it. He was complimentary in other aspects and rude as fuck to say he isn't clever enough. Pretty poor.

lol i saw peps comments doing the rounds in the portuguese press...i mean, i dont really disagree and i thought it was a rather funny thing to say but i wouldnt find it amusing if i was nunes, let me just say that
pretty much this.

He didn't play Nasri and Toure because they answered him back and questioned something he said. Kompany did the same but Pep didn't take him on because Vinny effectively ran the dressing room at that time.
Pep doesn't generally like people with bigger personalities than him. He has to be the biggest dog in the room.

But that's not the sort of thing a coach usually goes public about.

Pep sticks up for regularly underwhelming performances from the likes of Foden and De Bruyne, but hangs Phillips out to dry...

It made no sense to humiliate a professional sportsman like that.
Not sure if serious.

Guess that's why Ibra didn't stay long at Barca.

Well that's worked out wonderfully for the last 9 years so I'll stick with the manager being the big dog
