Overall a good game today though he'd be a much better as a wingback as he can't defend(most dribbled past player on the pitch today). He has good engine, is our fastest player and has a superb cross.

Motm for me. Defended very well against their best threat, played his part in build up and was easily our most creative outlet due to his willingness to actually move off the ball, creates our only chance first half then creates the breakthrough goal. Someone will no doubt find a way to criticise though as a large portion of those who have made him the scapegoat refuse to change their view. I maintain that he has got everything pep wants a fullback to have, only thing he lacks is experience there.

I'll be comfortable with him as RB long term. Brings more offensively than Walker ever brought and makes slightly fewer brain farts.

Is there a single thing that Lewis is better than him at ? maybe Rico keeps the ball a bit better but that's about it, Nunes is better in every other department so should be the starting RB until we buy one.
Lewis is a better passer. Sees the field better. Reads the defensive line better. Takes better angles when defending, is more in sync with the defenders and he is a better outlet for the ball.

Im short, Lewis is a smarter footballer. Even if not as athletic, dynamic or as good putting in crosses. They bring different qualities.

I am absolutely comfortable with both

He can actually defend. Even if ge was 'most dribbled passed ' it would simply be because he showed up 1 v 1 more

That said, i dont remember all these dribbled past you speak of. When i watch the replay I'll see of there is more to this claim. Didn't see it in real time

Who is this Lewis fella you are referring to? He sounds like a superstar.

Could turn out to be the next Zinchenko type - a decent squad player who can play a couple of positions reasonably (something Pep has always liked). I've always said there's a decent player in him given time/chances.
I'm old school though and want FBs to be FBs first and foremost - if we weren't in such a scramble I'd like to see what he can offer in the middle.

hes an athlete and he can.beat a player . Has pace .

Also has a fair few fuck ups in him that hopefully he can sort out

But hes stood up and contributed playing a position he doesnt know yet still people want him gone

Yet a few of the darlings who have been beyond shit this season get a free pass ...

Think he deserves a lot of credit tbh

The lad's doing well. I'm very happy to be proved wrong about him being a top player. He looks very good in this side, but that probably says more about the rest of our current squad.

Games against the top clubs will be a big test for him at RB, and it doesn't look like Pep is going to play him in midfield.

Good luck to the lad, he's working very hard.

Rico Lewis has time on his side. He'll prove the doubters wrong.

Better passer, that's it.

All the other stuff is complete bollocks. He regularly gets caught out and is targeted by any half decent player/manager and regularly comes unstuck. Unless he's going to grow a foot over the summer, never going to make it at as a RB.

Pep doesn't want FB's though, he wants midfielders reliable enough defensively that he can put there or centre backs competent enough on the ball that he can put there.

On paper, Nunes fits the bill perfectly, far more than any other player he's stuck there out of position in his time here. The only things stopping Nunes from being an ideal pep fullback is firstly, his own desire to play there. having never played there before he might not want to dedicate the best part of his career to learning a new position, he's also got very little chance of featuring for his international side at fullback when you look at the wealth of options they have at fullback and the fact that they want to play with genuine natural fullbacks. Secondly, his concentration levels. That's his biggest flaw, he switches off constantly, it's like he needs constant instructions otherwise he starts daydreaming and switches off which usually results in an error in the basics. If he can sort that out he'll be golden.
