Better passer, that's it.

All the other stuff is complete bollocks. He regularly gets caught out and is targeted by any half decent player/manager and regularly comes unstuck. Unless he's going to grow a foot over the summer, never going to make it at as a RB.
I guess youd be saying 'he grew a foot' next winter :)

Lewis is a better passer. Sees the field better. Reads the defensive line better. Takes better angles when defending, is more in sync with the defenders and he is a better outlet for the ball.

Im short, Lewis is a smarter footballer. Even if not as athletic, dynamic or as good putting in crosses. They bring different qualities.

I am absolutely comfortable with both
Lewis offers too little to counter his weaknesses, if Nunes is allowed to bomb forward he can rack up assists and we badly need that from our wide men, they both have weaknesses but Nunes can be a very good attacking Fullback, Lewis hasn't shown that he's very good at anything so he just isn't worth the risk.

So dangerous when he gets on the overlap, I know we don't really play with wing backs but he's make a fine one. Getting better defensively aswell. Fuck it I think I like the lad and hope he stays next season.
We have a hybrid fullback/Wingback system based on our heavy possession and average area of play in a game. It's why NOR ( and Gvardiol before him) and Nunes get in the box and at the end of a high number of chances. Our full backs are often wingback high

The guy is likeable.

We know he's error prone but he bleeds blue. Never seen a City player cry after his mistake in the derby, apologize.. accept his benching, not whine and just want to get better.

Even Pep's comments about him not being clever.. not a peep in the media.. he clearly loves being at City and wants to help the team. Opposite of Cancelo where you had rumors because he didn't play 1 game.

People raved about Cancelo but he had a grand total of 22 assists over 4 seasons.. so average of 5.5 a season. Nunes has already beat that this season and has not played in half the games.

And get this.. he's actually our 3rd leading assist man this season after Savinho and KDB this season.. despite not playing 1/2 the games and it's April 19th.

He's got a good cross and an eye for an assist. He could have had 2 assists today had KDB scored and he's got a decent shot on him too even with the weak foot.

Pep clearly thinks he's an asset even if not a guaranteed starter!

Have to echo this, some are too quick to label him after a few errors and overlook his positives.

Completely disagree about the angles and reading the defensive line better.. think they are the two things holding Rico back even more so than his physique and athleticism. I get it you like him.. but don’t make stuff up to justify your personal opinion. His positioning and general reading of defensive lines are woeful.

If you are interested,; I can give you time stamps. He is the best at it of any RB we've had the last 5 years

He often has the presence of mind, even under pressure, to check where the last Central defender is and then stop. He did it multiple times and earned us 2 offsides by letting his man continue on.

I'll get the timestamps and you can check em yourself.

Lot to like about him today. Tougher defensively and a threat going forward. Learning not to play a risky cross field ball if his options are limited, plays it safer. He’s improving.

Excellent today and offers a lot but one issue, on a 50/50 he is a shithouse and yesterday it nearly cost us.

He could be a player if we are unable to sell for a decent price is worth keeping around the squad.

Two players competing for the position is a really good thing. One is very young to be at this level. One is very new to the position at hand. That they offer a combination of strengths is also a positive for the team. We do not need to set them up against each other as the team is gradually improving and becoming more settled.

Needs to play higher up the pitch. Either flank.

His mistakes and awful defensive positioning will cost us games if we continue shoe horning him in at full back.

He's got at least 1 major error in him every game.
