Another good game. Got no help whatsoever when Cherki came on and foden was shifted central but stuck to his task well.

Played well in the first half, but I was surprised by how easily he was beaten late in the game. Was just glad he never lunged in and conceded a penalty.

He was very weak in challenges and I did my nut with that half arsed, neither hear nor there tackle/close down effort at the end when their winger went straight past him

His last 2 games have highlighted that we can’t go on with makeshift full backs. It’s madness.

He got done on the outside once by a fresh sub, hardly the end of the world. He even defended that situation properly by forcing the player down the outside and backing his pace and power to get a block in. Okay he got done on that instance but he got back enough to pressure the player into a rushed pass straight to one of our players. They had far more joy down our left than down our right.
It seems like unless he has a game where he isn't taken on even once, he's had a bad game, it's evidence he isn't a natural defender and we need to replace him urgently and all the good performances instantly go out the window. Perhaps some are just so used to seeing a prime Walker who was a generational freak that they cannot re-adjust.
I imagine if we stuck a prime zabaleta into this side right now, who was one of the best fullbacks around yet got done far more often than Nunes has been during his right back career so far, there would be many calling him shit too.

Nunes is fine as a backup right back. We desperately need a first choice specialist for the role though.
Nunes would also bring some energy and physicality to midfield. Pep wrote him off as not being intelligent enough to be #6 but he seems like a perfect candidate to play the role Bernardo is at the moment on the right. He’s got the pace and crossing to actually attack down the flank, and he’s got the stamina to cover the ground going back and forth between midfield and the wing.
