3 Clean sheets

Knicked this off Blue Anorak on mcfc-forum.co.uk

when did we last restrict the opposition to 3 efforts on target (Stoke), 1 effort on target (Wolves) and 0 efforts on target (Boro)?

It really is amazing to think that we could go from conceding 3 goals to Bolton to that record in just over 2 weeks. It's great.

Agreed Good Times :D

As soon as Dunne went we lost his leadership and organisation at the back, we was all over the place and wasn't playing as a unit, even now if it wasn't for Shay the back line is too quiet for me.
It'll be interesting to see when all our defenders are back how differant they will look under Mancini (players dont turn shit overnight) working as a unit as i don't think Hughes got the best out of the them.
We have experienced players that have played at this standard and under Mancini spell of organisation, concentration and disipline he can get the best out of them and get them playing as a unit.
You wont see upheavel during the Jan window as i said before we already have the players to finish 4th they just needed the guidance, which we now have.

Yes mate, Mancini has got the existing squad performing better, he has more strings to his bow than MH, who was somewhat one dimensional. I agree with you, there will likely not be any major signings, Mancini can get defenders organised and the midfield is more solid as well, don't forget when they return from injury he'll have a plethora of defenders to use.

will Mancini really know how much weds means to us? who would of told him...Kidd?
and IF we get to wembley who gets the credit?...hughes or mancini?

Mancini....two games against the rags are more dificult than the games we,ve already won.

Agree the semi is a massive test, any games against the hated enemy always are, they will be favourites, we'll need every bit of good fortune we can get

We have restricted the teams in the last 3 games to less chances.

Shay has had less to do.

We need to see how the defence defends against the rags.

At the start of the season we were shaky and Given saved us as the season went on we got worse and Given had too
much to do.

Mancini comes in 3 clean sheets and we look a lot less shaky.

Not perfect we still flapped at times.
Better strikers may have caused us more problems.

Forza Bobby

I often wonder what went wrong for Hughes after a promising start to the season, it just started to fall apart (the defence that is)

Coaching, it became increasingly obvious that they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing, most obviously at Spurs. A similar thing happened last year as well, promising start then got worse. One of the problems was the "hoof" ball, because we didn't retain possesion, they were often under more pressure than they should have been.

This has (mostly) stopped now.

{edit - I say mostly because its very early days yet}
