That would be the sensible approach.

Sure the card can be checked however it won't show what age the person was that used it
It would just alert the steward on entry to ensure that the person that had just gone through the gates was eligible to use the card they had used. Light goes off and the steward checks details with the cardholder. Bit of an inconvenience but so is missing three games.

That's how the system works now anyway. When you scan your card there's a light on the inside where the steward can see that indicates whether it's a concession card or not, if the cardholder doesn't look like they are either under 16, or over 65, then the steward asks to check.

Very unfortunate, I imagine it's only because it was the derby there was heightened security.

I'd just get in touch with the supporters office and explain your situation, let them know examples of when you've upgraded in the past and hopefully if you speak to someone nice they won't be a horrible bastard. I've worked in support roles before and if a customer rings up being polite and nice I'd be more inclined to help them than someone who is being a complete arse.

Hope you get it sorted, and if not, there is usually spares knocking about on here so you can get your old man into the ground!

Why do the stewards enforce this? Cant they just turn a blind eye? If I was on minimum wage to do a boring job like that (and knowing the cost of football) I would just look the other way.
Seriously? You'd be happy for somebody to buy a concession seasoncard and use it every week whilst you had to pay full price?

Yeah why wouldnt I? Its not my money

It IS our money in a way!! This attitude of not caring is typical of our society today

Our money?

It's not, the money we pay on tickets goes into the clubs massive pool, basically what we pay is pennies and they wouldn't be any worse off if they didn't charge us anything this season. It's greedy behaviour by pretty much every club.

That's gone right over my head that one. How is the club's money 'our' money?

As a mod, I'd certainly be interested in hearing the OP's answer to this.

Do you have to actually give the card to the steward if he requests it?

They will not have the power of a stop and search, what is the worst they can do, chuck you out.

The guy took the risk and then gave the card up too easily. Now the op or his dad pays the price.
