There's only so long you can keep patching-up and applying make-do-and mend with the players. Fours years of constant full-on physical and mental intensity is catching-up with everyone.

The players have been in far more games than most and haven't had a proper rest.

NBA players play more than football but a comparable amount, they have 4 months off. Premier League players who then play internationals etc, have 4 weeks off.

It can't continue.
