He’s one of our best centre backs in recent memory but I’d rank peak Kompany, Stones, Laporte (he was amazing in his first 6 months at the club) and possibly even Otamendi ahead of him.
I'd easily have Ake over him as well. Dias has had the luxury of some good defenders around him and the best 6 in the world in front of him that he hadn't been challenged as often before this season.

Walker out the door and the likely departure of Stones (maybe Ake as well) this summer makes next season a big opportunity for him to prove his ability and leadership with fresh faces around him.

Massive shock, player that plays for a more defensive team that has less of the ball, has more defensive actions compared to a player who plays for a team that dominates the ball. You could do this with any one of the relegated side's CB and would probably get the same result. Are they also better than Dias?
People really need to do some critical think before they post stats, wapecially such as those on Dias v a defender who spends 5 x more time each game defending.

Duel successes the only ones that might be of interest, but even they are hugely affected by whether you are being countered on or in a low block.

Thought Dias did ok tonight with a couple of important blocks/challenges.
He is definitely the leader in the group, so should now start next season as club captain.
With Stones always knackered, we need Reuben's big match experience to start the season...

I agree, he has not been what he was but tonight you see a leader and a player out there.

He needs to get the form back and it could be focus (lazy criticism, but who knows).

However, he has the personality as someone who wants to win and is very professional.

For me at the moment he is tied in, I would personally be putting Rodri as captain, but believe Reuben is our leader on the pitch.

Gvardiol, Dias with Rodri in the front has a making of a solid spine.

Laporte passing was underrated ,his cross field diag passes were top class . Dias is the worst on the ball , and I don't remember him scoring any goals recently

I agree but not otamendi. He is a better footballer than him
No , he is not . otamendi was at least more adventurous on the ball and scored goals with headers . Dias has peaked already and is now in decline ,it is good time to sell him while he still has value .
