3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

The club just isn’t behaving like a serious team any more. We’ve extended the contract, and increased the wages, of someone who has been in constant decline for 2+ years with little sign of improving. We’ll probably make him the fucking club captain after Bernardo just to compound it. Dias is not good enough any more. He was once world class, but that was a long time ago now.

Agree, he’s been shit for a long time but that seems to get you a long contract these days. That and signing complete random players that literally no one else actually wants.

He was knocked about by Richarlison last week and yesterday he got knocked out of the way off a corner when Trafford made a great save, for a so called big fella, he's a pussy and thats before his massive contribution for the winning goal.
The only valid reason for extending his contract is to ensure we get something for him when someone is stupid enough to buy him.

Cannot believe how badly he's fallen off the cliff. Shell of a player that joined us right now.

Weil he is saved for life. He has won everything. He is the best perfect example of what’s going on. Extending players we shouldn’t extend - not dropping players who need to be dropped. Now it’s back to 1 since he has a whole 4 years left on his contract. And we all know he will sit end enjoy the money. Now I get why we can’t sell players. High wages for no reason and they don’t wanna spend what we want. Other clubs can clearly see he is declining. Just our board doesn’t because he win the triple. I hope Khusanov starts now and Pep puts him off.

Gvardiol - Khusanov. It has to be this season

Looks a different player from the one a couple of years ago.

Its not age, he's 28 and not injuries.

Seems like he's lost some hunger.

...

And if he doesn't do it anymore, does it mean he's changed personally? I do worry just how much winning a treble and four in a row takes from a player. It's the pinnacle of club football. You've genuinely completed it once you've done that. I reckon quite a lot of footballers will start naturally just coming back from that peak once they've reached the top. The hunger will not be the same for most anymore. Takes a truly truly special kind of mentality to keep going.

I'm hoping the fact Khusanov started ahead of him and had a good game yesterday means he realises his place is under threat, and that might get the fire going again. For too long, mostly because of injuries, Dias has been able to coast and start every week.

I think the club see it as having at least some sort of constant in the defensive group next summer. Stones, Ake and Akanji are not going to be here. Dias will be expected to lead Bah, Khus and Reis.

I know he has spoken a good game and not delivered recently but the club have put a bet on him returning to the levels we know he can get to.

It makes me mad at this point but when you point it out that there has been horrible decisions then you getting attacked by the happy clappers. If we won 5 in a row and Dias played like he currently is than i wouldn’t extend him either. I just saw some TikTok’s yesterday mentioning that Dias has been overrated for at least 2 years. So basically we ain’t the only ones who are mentioning it. He has clearly declined. With the new wages he can chill now. I know if the club wants to move him on within 2 years we will only loan him out. Another akanji/ Grealish case thanks to the wages.

Only reason he is starting in front of Khusanov is because of his seniority no other reason. Hopefully when Gvardiol comes back - Pep changes his mind. If this is a transition Season than I wanna see the 2 younger ones as our starting CB - can’t go back to something that just doesn’t work.

I don't rate Dias at all. I doubt that he'd get anywhere near to regular start at Liverpool or Arsenal, or any top European club.

He pulls his shorts up and tries to look hard, and then does nothing. Definitely not an elite defender, he invariably ends up putting pressure on the players around him.

He just flatters to deceive.

Pep benched Kun till Kun wanted to meet Pep's demand and he responded with 3 20G+ seasons till his knee got injured.

Maybe Pep needs to do the same with Ruben so he doesn't just waltz around anymore.
