3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

You won't get many Blues agreeing with your post

Many Blues thought Rodri wasn't good. Would have laughed at the suggestion he might win Ballon d'Or.

Khusanov wasn't great in the most important league games in May where we lost the title: Everton away and Bournemouth away. He has his limitations, that's why Pep was reluctant to play him in the first half of the season.

If we have to sell one of Khusanov and Gvardiol, I'm not sure the club bosses would prefer to sell Gvardiol. Offers a lot more in the build up play and attack.

Hope Khusa becomes the best in the world, but for me Gvardiol is the better player. Watch the very best teams in the world fight for his signature if we fail to convince him to stay.

Battered by United? When was that?

With Bernardo leaving and the uncertainty surrounding Rodri and Gvardiol, nobody at the club would like to lose Dias.

I'm sure Viana or Maresca rate him much higher than some on here. But if he wants to go (might be personal), then it's different, and makes Gvardiol's bargaining position quite stronger, because we can't afford to lose both.
When they absolutely played us off the park in January and Dias was starting arguments instead of playing his game.

Agree about not losing them both though

They play completely different positions, with different feet, and have different primary attributes.

I’d expect age, mobility, and influence on the preferred patterns of play to dictate any outgoing, which means Khusa and Gvardiol stay…unless stupid money is on offer!

Dias was injured and didn't play in that game.

That's the general level of the points against Dias. Fairly low, involving fictions or daft observations.
Memory hazy then. I remember him having to be taken off at half time cause he was having a tantrum though

It happens (re: memory).

Dias got injured vs Chelsea in early January and returned at Anfield.

Maybe you are thinking about Real (h), he got injured and Guehi replaced him after the break.

That was the one, the whole team lost their heads but him in particular. That's been my concern with him - it's that thing when a player knows they're playing badly and gets frustrated with everything around them. Rodri has done it a couple of times lately.

There is also a possibility that Dias was frustrated with Pep. The great man himself has admitted he had rows with players, can't see Dias being a shrinking violet in that situation. Maybe the change will do him good

Long story short - I don't know!

Khusanov made a lot of stupid mistakes against Everton. From TV I could sense how nervous he was and wasn't ready for that pressure. That's when players like Ruben are vital.

Skills aren nothing without experience, leadership and winning mentality.

Ruben is a great CB and I don't think people writing him off understand that club extended his contract for a reason.

He will be first choice and most probably will be chosen as a captain.

If everyone stays

Ruben-Gvardiol is our main defensive duo
Khusanov-Guehi are subs..
With due respect, Khusanov, Guehi and Gvardiol are the best three for possibly two defensive centre positions but who knows we may play three, four or five at the back next season.

If Dias wants to leave the Club will let him go.

He will only want to go to another top club so City would likely get a decent fee. Dias knows he could drop down pecking order at City next season, especially as Gvardiol now back.
Dias knows that if he goes to a top Club this Summer he would still likely get a 3 maybe 4 year contract? If he waits til next year he may not get his ideal club as his stock may be lower, his pace even slower and his age higher

If he wants to leave why did he sign his new contract last season?
I still think he has a lot to offer.
Khusa is developing fats but for m he can still be too much of a hothead at times.

Lots of reasons to sign previously. Wage uplift, Security, Pep [& others] still here. Things can change in short time in top level sport. Look at Trafford situation...You mentioned one in your reply [Khus speed of development]. Guehi not here last year. Less game time. I've no idea if he wants to leave but the Club will not stand in his way as its likely that we would secure decent/acceptable fee

So, that's Dias, Rodri, Gvardiol, Trafford, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Marmoush and Savinho going? So much for Pep leaving the new man a squad...
That’s probably 300-400mil to spend though. Anderson, a top class winger like Diomande and someone like Schlotterbeck if Dias and/or Gvardiol goes. Would love to keep Trafford. Reijnders I can see improving under Maresca. Gonzalez might stay, Pep froze him out but the new manager might see things differently.

It’s not a surprise to me that there are stories about him wanting out.

His best friend has just left us and he’ll know himself that he’s no longer too of the pecking order.

Fight to the end? Personally any player that doesn't want to be here fuck off sharpish, no hanging sbouut just fuck.off. We can't it's our club. Are we upset Peps going? Yes but we wrre here before him and we will still be here now he's gone.

Interesting one, not seen at his best recently with injuries playing a big part in that.

He'd walk into every Prem side but is likely on the edges here but, who knows what plans the new manager would have.

Think if he does go and stays in the UK he'll be in dipper red.
