Probably even weaker than 'city fans have become spoilt'. Incredible stuff...

I genuinely believe a large spectrum of City fans have been conditioned to accept what is on their plate, to accept second best, because that is all the club has known.

It's not realism, it's not pragmatism, it's a sheer inferiority complex and a fear of what happens if something goes wrong.

Mancini has been seriously found wanting, erratic behaviour, in these last two months.
I posted something very similar to that in the weird 'realisation of our club' thread. Years of attacks from utd kids and sections of the press have sunk into some minds and fed on the insecurity in there .

We are Manchester fucking city. The club who's support was the envy of the footballing world. Who were a watchword for passion and loyalty. The club who matched man utd stride for stride until ridiculous chairmen wrecked the club.

Now we have the best owner in world football. We have kompany, aguero, silva and hart. Players who would get into any team. The Phoenix has risen from the flames.

Get your fucking heads up, have some pride and realise that the future is now. Not tomorrow. Now.

Carpe diem.

Bang on. Too many waiting for things at other clubs to stack the odds in our favour.

The owners admit they accelerated our spending, no doubt with FFPR in mind, but also to attain success much quicker.

That brings a set of targets which may seem harsh, unrealistic, but they are also very real.

I do smile when I see Chelsea's situation cited as a reason to apply some sort of handbrake to our progression, grow organically.

Jose was shown the door a long time ago, hasn't stopped them winning FA Cup's, getting to a Champions League Final/semi-finals, doing the Double, attracting top players.

let's start a petition to get Mourinho in..

Why not? After that we could move on to 'Mancini Out' and 'Sign Mourinho' banners. And start staging protests against the manager too.

Just hope the owners are thinking the same in regards to Mancini's contract.

We should go after Mourinho, give him 10 milllion a year or whatever he wants

Listen Dave, don't try pigeonholing me into one of these daft little groups so many of you on Bluemoon spend you lives bickering about. I don't define myself as a 'Mancini apologist' but I'll say whatever I feel when presented with someone talking nonsense. I'm open to all sorts of views on the manager and certainly don't have my head buried up his arse, but to suggest that finishing second is an underachievement worthy of being fired is quite clearly ludicrous.
I don't think anyone should be fired for finishing second but if the owner doesn't see Mancini as the long term future and the guy that will take us onto European and domestic dominance (by extending his contract), then we should part with him and bring whoever the owner thinks is the best man for the job.

The same would still go even if we won the league.
You see, I can't disagree with any of that. That's a perfectly rational and reasonable argument to put forward. But stating that finishing second in the league (possibly by as little as 2 points) is an underachievement is neither rational nor reasonable.

Unlike a lot of the sad cunts on this site I don't spend my entire time defining myself as being part of a group that is blindly either 'for' or 'against' the manager. There are pros and cons to both arguments and opinions are allowed to evolve over time. We went through all this shite on here with Hughes and history is repeating itself in full tedious technicolour.

And, quite frankly, it's dragging what was once a great site down into the shit state of affairs it currently finds itself in, with every thread seemingly having some sort of hidden agenda behind it.

Yep, I agree with you.

There is also a myopic obsession with rags. They have a Ferguson, therefore we must also have a Ferguson. We can't be like Bayern, Real, Barca or anyone else, we must have a manager that stays 20 years. It's either rags (Mancini) or Chelsea (Mourinho) scenario, no other clubs exist.

How much do Bobby & Mourinho make respectively? Just out of interest.

-- Fri Apr 06, 2012 6:21 am --

Inferiority complex more like.

I'd be all for Mourinho if Mancini was to go - its just that if Mourinho doesn't come or is not interested then I am not sure there is another outstanding candidate available.

Mancini was once actually the highest paid manager in the world at Inter earning £9m a year.

It was one of the reasons they couldn't afford to pay him off in one go and put him on gardening leave to pay him on the drip.

Bobby is clearly a money man, as he would forfeit his monies being paid if he took another job elsewhere.

The difference between his gardening leave coming to an end and taking the City job was just two weeks.

Mourinho earns around £11m a year, Mancini, £3m.

Wenger is the highest earner in England, on around £7m.

Which is unbelievable when he moans about financial fair play, but earns more than most of his players.

-- Fri Apr 06, 2012 10:29 am --

I agree, but the owners can't reconcile second best.

They would simply scout a perceived upgrade on Mancini.
