CBA watching more than the first half.

The quality is poor due to the pitch and frantic pace. Nobody has looked great.

Echeverri's strengths are his low centre of gravity and ability to turn players. He is swift over 10 yards and can shoot with either foot.

Negatives. Work rate (he doesn't press), stamina and strength.

Very raw at times but exceptional at others. In the words of Stuart Pearce 'a rough diamond'. But let's hope he turns out better than the Greek Freddie Mercury.

You guys didn't appreciate Julian and looks like you are not going to appreciate the magic of "El Diablito" either. But they will love him in Spain so sell him soon make your profit and Atleti or Madrid will win more titles.City more like Benfica than Madrid.

We have statues of David Silva and Sergio Aguero - so that's where your argument immediately falls short. We love small, skilful and exciting players.

Pointing out that someone needs to improve in certain areas (ironically the areas that Alvarez excels at) is not the same as not appreciating his talent.

He could become a superstar but he's got a long way to go.

My immediate concern for Echeverri is that we no longer have many Spanish-speaking players in the first-team squad, especially younger players, which might make it a little harder for him to assimilate quickly.

Nonsense, Alvarez was popular with the fans. The problem was that with a fit Haaland as a virtual certain pick at 9, he found his starts limited as a 10 when KdB was also available and so decided he'd rather play as a starter at Atleti, City got a good fee for him so all parties were happy.

Time will tell.Etcheverri is a great talent who will be a big world star like so many that leave River. But I don't think he will be appreciated in the premier for the comments I have read here..In Spain or Italy the fans would not be talking of a rough diamond but a superstar. If Etcheverri ends up in a similar situation as Alvarez the upcoming River stars will see where not to go in Europe.
Haaalnd is a tank a great goalscorer but nothing more.He was found out last year by top defenders and indeed by Inter in the 2023 final.

True. I’m sure I read that he only speaks Spanish. It’ll be easier for Reis with Savinho but I can only think of Rodri in the first-team squad.
Manager and half the staff etc. sure he''ll be fine.

Tend to think South Americans like to hang out together. When we had a contingent of Argentinians, they always seemed to be together. Wouldn’t be surprised if we bought from Argentina again this summer and/or brought Perrone back.

Varela might help this window, Txiki if you reading this. :)

Yep, 27 goals last season but was "found out".
I hope they find him out again this season and next.

And I hope they continue to find him out every season for the next 9.5 years.
