30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2024/25

Mate he's not going from first team at River Plate and playing in the Copa Libertadores into the reserves side ffs

Well unless he's going on loan in February I don't know how else he's going to get minutes. McAtee is currently much more experienced and he hardly sees the pitch.

McAfee is older but is not more experienced.Etcheverry has played 48 games for River. You can argue about the standard but I assure that there is much more pressure playing in front of 85000 Argentines than the European theatre. He has also played the Olympics a very high level when Argentina were very competitive.I personally think he has the ability to be a better signing than Julian as long as Guardiola stays and fans realize he is going to take 2 years to show his best. His biggest challenge will be culture and pace.I don't think any Argentine players need worry about the physicality of the premier league but the frantic pace will be a problem for a few months.I imagine City allowing him play the Sub 20 Sudamericano is to allow his family settle in Manchester Etcheverry is from Chaco where right now it's over 30° so I guess a good idea from Guardiola

McAtee has experience of the League from his time at Sheffield was more what I meant. I agree with a lot of your post, I think Echeverri has a higher ceiling than Alvarez but he was more suited to make an instant impact as he was very well suited to English football physically. His pressing was elite and he was very tactically aware aswell.

Claudio does some great things, I love how expansive his passing range is, he has a wicked shot and always tries to create things. He can use both feet aswell which is a massive plus. He actually reminds me a lot of De Bruyne. To my eyes though he is still incredibly raw at the moment and while he has clear massive potential that's all it is at the moment. I'd be amazed if he was given first team minutes for City this season. He needs to be looked after and brought along very slowly.

I suggested the EDS until the end of the season more so he can settle into very different surroundings under no pressure and let our coaches get a good look at him and decide whether he can play a part with the first team next season or he needs a loan for more regular football.

What's your opinion on the other young lad at River, Mastantuono? I thought he looked more mature than Claudio despite being younger, only seen him a couple of times though maybe he just had a very good game.

Agree with almost everything there.Huge potential and really it's a pity Gallardo didn't have him for another year.Masantuono is the real deal. For me he will be a World superstar if his attitude stays right.River won't let him go for anything less than his buyout clause €45 million when you include Argentine taxes that adds another 8-10 million.Again I hope he stays for two years like Julian under Gallardo.Things are changing here though River despite investing 200 million $US on the Monumental have made U$S 62 and 53 million for the past 2 years.Right now after Montiel signs the entire defence will be Argentine World champions. The new Mundial of clubs will help level the playing field for us if it works so I don't think there will be many more bargains from here

If Echeverri plays 2 games for the EDS I will eat my own arse. He's one of the top youth prospects in the world who has played 30 games for one of the world's biggest clubs this season including in their Champions League games. He's not some rando like Kayky
Bookmarked and took a screenshot. You better pray he doesn't play for the EDS

He will just play in that tournament, then I imagine join in with the first team for training and such.

Doubt he will play for EDS.

I watch his every touch highlights after every game.
Incredible skills, attitude, and many other positives.
There are however aspects of his game at present which would preclude Pep giving him many ,if any minutes.

Has this lad rocked up at the Etihad yet? Not gonna make our CL Squad if we sign all those expected sadly but he won't be alone in that among our new acquisitions. PL regs should allow them to play in there though.
