I look at the 2023/24 City season as the 'season of Phil' - kid sorta carried us. In honor of that, and since I agree with a few others here that the easiest comp for CE is Foden, here's a video to ponder. Phil turned 18 a couple months before the 2018/19 City season began and played enough to produce this eye-popping highlight package. CE turned 18 in Jan and what he's doing for River currently might be compared to Phil at 18 - you can see dev from game to game - mentally, physically, technically.

I like the videos of Echeverri and i'm excited to see him play for us.
If he develops anything like Phil, then we've really got something special on our hands.

Has had 2 matches recently - a league road loss 1-0 and a Copa Libs home win 2-0.

Nothing came off for him in the loss, the tricks and vision led to nowhere.
Looked crisp and enjoyed better individual results from his efforts in the win.

Good family news for CE as his mom is out of hospital and feeling well enough to attend his latest match.

River has a league match Monday then CE is off for int'l duty, should be with the u-23 Olympic squad.

And again be aware of the name Mastantuono, a 16 yo for River - be excited if City ever shows true interest.

Think it's like when Julian arrived jan end of there season he won't be going to girona and I don't think las palmas is a good option don't think it's done perrone any favours. I only watch the highlights of r.p games but he looks a special player and you don't buy a ferrari and then give the keys to your teenage son.

I think it's January at the end of their season. Seems to be getting regular gametime with the first team at the moment so no rush.
Agreed - he's getting invaluable match time at a young age. The physical conditioning will stand him in good stead and accelerate his development.

I'm confident that he'll get fast tracked and given a full international debut in the next 6 months.

If he does it'll be hard to see us loaning him out as being part of our squad would be better (ala Phil).

Played w/Arg u23s in a friendly last weekend, won 4-0 in an empty stadium against Paraguay. I assume CE will be included in the final Oly squad considering he played the entire [AFAIK] friendly at CAM and looked fine. Next he left camp early to join River for a 2-0 road league loss yesterday - no iso vid found - he missed a good chance but played fine. River's next match is July 21, which is probably around the time the u23's will leave for the Olympics 'down in France.' River has been knocked out of both domestic cup comps, so only league and Copa Libs matches remain on their sked until CE departs next Winter.

Hard for me to figure out if CE will be a world beater.

Gut instinct says he will be, but just too small and needs another year or so before joining the team.

Phil Foden and David Silva raise an eyebrow!
