Give him a bit of time but I agree he won't be in the first team squad just yet.

He won't get anywhere near our first team for a long time.

Superb technically and very exciting but he will get destroyed physically in this league, he needs to mature and that will take some time.

One very much for the future, even more so with the state of our present side, not a place to bring in a young kid.

So basically Marlos Moreno. Got to start building from within, sick of these "next Messi" hype jobs, chasing the next Messis while neglecting genuine talent like Palmer is what got us in this transition mess we are currently in.
We didn't neglect Palmer talent. We nurtured it, honed it, taught him how to play at the NEXT level. Our club set him up for a mega earning career that will set him up for life.

We owe him fuck all. Because when it came to it he didn't want to devote his time to the club that gave him all that.

Only partly true. We nurture these lads through to first team fringe level, then play safety first and give them crumbs. It’s all the same to City whether they accept it and persevere or earn us good coin in the transfer market.

Palmer wasn’t willing to accept just the odd minute here and there and went somewhere where he could progress much faster. Being on City’s books isn’t a one way street, you know.

In most cases the business model works. The players who leave aren’t generally quite City grade. There are exceptions, though. Spin it all you like, Palmer is absolute top talent who could have been fantastic for us if treated differently. What a difference he might have made in an ageing squad that needs some rebuilding.

As an outsider who watches some European football.A different view."El Diablito" will get far more protection in Europe than in Argentina.Referees here allow far more physicality than in Europe. Also he will probably do better in the Premier league than in La Liga or Seria A in terms of naive defence.Culturally more dificult yes.Agüero,Alvarez or Teves are not big but grew up in a hard futbol culture.River want to keep him until July 25 but Guardiola wont allow it because he understands this pibe will help.

The day we give in to players who just demand to play when they want is the day we become utd. Hmm anyway iv just realised this isn't the Palmer thread.

No it’s not the Palmer thread but “giving in to players” betrays the inflexible mentality. It’s Pep’s way or on yer bike, as he’s an inveterate control merchant, but which in this case proved one of the club’s worst dropped bollocks.

It is relevant to this thread because Echeverri risks becoming another bigged up prospect who becomes marginalised, loaned out and eventually eBayed.

Does it matter ultimately? As long as careers aren’t wrecked, and all parties make money, maybe not. And Pep wont have regrets when he has licence to buy oven ready replacements.

Give him a season. He is only 19.

We should give him as long as it takes, he is 19, young, skinny and coming to a new country, if he even played one came next year he will have done well.
I wouldn't call him that skinny. He has a similar physique to Alavarez

I beg to differ.
Beg all you want but Pep ain't throwing any raw kid from Argentinian into this team in this state.

Just look at the Pussy lad, way , way off and what went on Tuesday could affect his career.

I'd say Gvardiol will be more affected than Pusey.

I haven't suggested he is going to play any part for this season. The point is give him full season in our set up. His stats at River Plate aren't too bad for 18/19 year old as a pro.
