30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

Top 4 team in any league.

He should have gone to a Mallorca, Osasuna, or a Wolfsburg in Germany.

He needed a mid-table team that was not going to be under threat of relegation but doesn't have massive pressure to chase trophies or Europe.

Like I said in previous post, Echeverri was barely a regular in River Plate, he was never going to go from that to top 4 team regular in Germany.
Argentine wonderkids mosttimes end up believing their own hype

would he though? i am not sure.

maybe he just isn't at the level required for a top 4 european team yet.

to be fair to leverkusen, this kasper hjulmand's first game in charge. is he really going to put full faith in a 19 year old who hasn't started one game in europe yet?

echeverri wasn't even a regular when we signed him from river plate. he has a lot of development to do.
So Echeverri goes out on loan and Marmoush, Cherki, Foden, and Savinho go up in smoke. Somehow we've gone from mint to meh...

Issue with loan is that the player has to perform significantly better than the players the club actually own, otherwise you're better off playing the guys you have more of a stake in.

He's a kid, the season is long and just getting going. He will get chances, it'll be up to him to prove he's worth putting in the team.

Hope we've got a break clause.

I mean he just joined at the deadline + Leverkusen flopped in the first games after leading. He is obviously not going to start right away. I do think he will get more game time there than with us though. Maybe he could’ve chosen Girona but I get that Girona wouldn’t be the place if you want to make the WC squad. Just 3 games played. There‘s 31 more in the Bundesliga

That's not the worry. Hes a young kid who has signed to be part of a managers system and that managers instantly been sacked. We are now waiting to see if the new manager is going to gamble on our lad, if he doesn't its a massive loss to his game time, that looked assured at a decent level when he was initially loaned. No minutes in the first game has to be a worry.

That was Leverkusen's 3rd game league game. He is being named as a sub. In the first 2 games he has come on for 5 mins, and 30 mins respectively. Last night he did not come on at all. Leverkusen were down to 10 men and perhaps the coach did not want to put on an offensive player.

It has been reported by the Athletic that City can recall Echeverri from his loan in January but I don't know how accurate that report is, furthermore, Cherki and Foden in his position.

I mean the article is Trash. 2 months isn’t January so Echeverri won’t be needed

I assume they mean recalling him now
A bit silly as there are very few situations where you can recall players between transfer periods

Said it in a different thread that he may as well have stayed with us than be on Leverkusen's bench, and somebody said he'd get more minutes there...

Ok mate.

It may work out af the end but I think he had showed enough to stay here.
I can understand the likes of Nypan and Bah having to go out but a lot of these loans turn out to be disasters.
This is all down to the club not shifting the "older" players out early in the transfer window.
Gundo, Akanji, Ortega, Philipps etc. were / still are with the club until the last few hours of the transfer season.

We need to get him out of there on Jan.1...
Most probably. However, extracting him from there is the easier part. Finding a new berth for him might be harder. We’d presumably want him going somewhere more stable, yet stable teams in January are less likely to accommodate someone who is coming at a lower ebb, no matter how highly he is regarded. He arrived in Manchester late February, so we need a solution that gets him meaningful minutes.
