30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

I heard Leverkusen refused to let him play for Argentina in the Sub-20 world cup, which seems rather strange given the fact that he is barely getting any substantial minutes and that he didn't even play a single minute the last game.

Leaving city for a top 4 German club is a hilarious feat no matter the circumstances. He was never going to be an absolute starter there and if some people here believed so then it’s purely arrogance. Especially when it’s a player on loan

He isn’t getting any minutes and many in Argentina rated him higher (or at least the same level) as Mastantuono.

rating somehow high in your home county doesn’t suggest that he‘s going to make it + he is on loan at a top 4 Bundesliga club. They won’t prioritize him. Mastanuono is definitely rated higher than Echeverri + it’s our fault for not giving him minutes when he looked good in his short cameos.
It’s the same with Reis and Khusanov. I am sure they would’ve gotten more minutes when playing for Madrid.

He could definitely be getting minutes on the right for us atm, should have kept him and sold Savinho, like we all said.
We had too many players and had to sell / loan several, some of them senior players who had been with us a long time.
Some of these were not overly willing to move on and only left near the end. Akanji and Gundogan moved out very late on and Kalvin Philipps and Stefan Ortega are still here.
Had all this been better planned Echeverri may stil be here.
He is not the only youngster gone on loan, Nypan, Reis, Bah etc.
I am not unhappy to see Savinho still here but he has a season to battle it out with the likes of Bobb to make a position his own.

There's a difference between being an absolute starter and being sat on the bench for the entirety of matches. It is Leverkusen's prerogative to not play him but it's ours to get him playing somewhere.
As far as Mastantuono being the better player that remains to be seen. At the SA U20 this past winter Echeverri was clear of everyone.

The money from Spurs for Savinho was a no brainer for me and Echeverri has shown more ability and determination in his limited minutes imo

Early days, but powerful agents of serious talents can be a real danger to their career development.
We have seen it many times.
Leverkusen may be forcing Claudio to eat a little humble-pie so he learns that the club doesn't revolve around him, and that is no bad thing as long as it is short and sharp rather than an extended lesson.
Those roping Savinho into this equation do so prematurely, IMO. I suspect he will become a serious player, with us or without. Echeverri is also not a winger.

You may be right but that's not the order things happened in. They are 2 separate situations.
Echeverri going on loan was decided well before Spurs started bidding for Savinho.
Echeverri ( or his agent) actually kicked up a bit of fuss as to where he wanted to go on loan to.
I am not sure why he is getting little or no game time but I'm assuming the club and Pep thought he would be getting more than he is currently getting.
A similar situation with Simpson Pusey at Celtic while Kabore and Divin Mubama are getting a good spell on the pitch with their loans and getting decent reviews too.

Alright then, most of us.
How do you know that...did you carry out a survey of the fans haha!!!. Seriously though, I honestly think Savinho is really talented and remember that many City fans were writing off Rodri and Silva early in their City careers. Don't be so quick to judge and remember that he is only 21...look at what Doku is producing now.

Yeah I did a survey, 98% in favour
