Ahhh we've conceded a goal which means the really weird and totally unjust Ederson bashing starts, just more people to add to the clueless list.

Didn't get a good view of their first goal, was right behind their 2nd and 3rd, Ederson had no right saving either, no blame whatsoever.

Credit to their striker, some great goals from his point of view, not often we are on the end of a hattrick.

His footwork looked poor, particularly timing wise on the second.
 
he's so good but how many games last season and this season we concede the only shots on target? I am not saying it's his fault but I'm willing to bet no team concedes as high a percentage of the shots on target that they face as us

all three finishes today were excellent and not easy

Two reasons. We suffocate teams and control games throughout. Teams generally don't get prolonged periods of attack around our final third so they don't even get the opportunity to have speculative shots and create half chances.

Secondly, we play a risky game with our pressing and front footed defending, we win the ball back before it gets near our net but if the opposition can play through that we're wide open and leaves us exposed to easy chances that you'd expect to see scored.

Combine those two and you've got us barely conceding chances but the odd ones we do are usually very clear cut chances that go in and the result is this scenario where seemingly every chance against us goes in.

And that’s what defines great keepers - they make saves they probably shouldn’t, and are sharp when they are sporadically tested. Victor Valdes is a prime example of a woeful keeper who got by playing predominately with his feet in an possession-based system.

Watch every one of our Champions League exits from the past 4 years; Ederson is culpable - or ‘could have done better’ in every single one of them.

Did you see the game last week? He made several saves he probably shouldn't to get us the win and has done the same many times before. Because we concede so few chances, people will look to lay blame when most of them go in because it doesn't feel right yet all the relevant stats tell you he does make saves, he's actually one of the best in the league at it.

Expecting him to make world class saves constantly and calling him out on the occasions he doesn't is the equivalent to criticising any of the attackers for not scoring a 45 yard thunderbolt every time we fail to score.

If we allowed the opposition more possession inside our final third and encouraged a handful extra 30/40 yard shots every game for Ederson to make a few more routine saves every game. Perhaps making one or two look good for the cameras half these bullshit criticisms wouldn't exist.

There's literally no better keeper in the entire world better suited to us than Ederson. None!

Last week's game? Ederon made 2 saves, one good and the other one great. That's a good-very good match, but if that's the example of how good Ederson as GK is, then it's not very flattering. Then, what would be Neuer against Algeria in WC 2014? Or Navas vs Bayern last year, or even Valdes against Arsenal in 2006?

I don't know why some get mad when anyone says Ederson is not a great shot-stopper, that's just the reality. Allison, Navas, Neuer, Cortouis, Schmeichel, Donnaruma, Ter Stegen, Oblak are all better in that aspect. And I can name several more that are at least as good.

I would even say that Steffen is as good as Ederson in that aspect. Steffen's match vs Leicester (Community) was better than Ederson's, and to be honest, I don't remember a match where Ederson has made as many saves as that match from Steffen.

That's coming from someone who thinks Ederson is a top 3 GK for City.
