Goalkeepers win awards for conceding the least goals. Defenders don't get any even though they probably did a lot more to keep the numbers down.

Any keeper with a shot to save ratio as poor as Ederson's would be called into question. He's simply not a good shot stopper.

In my opinion, Ederson is extremely lucky to play for City. If he was at a club where the coach was anyone other than Pep Guardiola, he'd probably be on the bench every week.
His shot to save ratio would be higher if we didn't leave 2 forest players unmarked on the 6 yard line, things like that bring his stats down, and we concede plenty of goals where he just doesn't stand a chance, usually from the oppositions first shot, unfair singling out by some on here,

He was always at best an average goalkeeper with outstanding distribution. Now we aren't blowing teams away every week and we have to rely more on defence his deficiencies have become more prevalent.

Save % - terrible
Pen save % - terrible
Rushing & 1v1s - terrible

Add that to the fact he's kicking it out of touch more than ever before.

In tight games you can't rely on him to be the difference. He's yet to make a save from an opponent in the 6 yard box in the Champs league for us(54 appearances).
Go back and watch highlights of when we've been knocked out of the champs league since he's been here and tell me a better keeper wouldn't have made a difference.

Lyon - he is terrible for all 3 goals in the 1-3 loss.

Real Madrid(4-3)- poor clearance leads to Benzema's first. Beaten from tight angle by Vini Jr and gets panenka'd for their 3rd.
2nd leg - beaten to cross for first, rooted to spot for header slightly off straight down the middle for their 2nd

Tottenham(4-3) - sets himself for Tottenham corner then stands still as it bounces off Llorente and flies just past him. Sons first, another straight under his legs from about 20 yards out too.

Chelsea - gets his rushing out all wrong as he often does.

There are goalkeepers with far worse defenders with far better save ratio in both PL, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga.

I'm not saying that Ederson is a terrible gk but he's also not making any important saves when we truly need them.

you can only save a shot when you have actually got a chance to save it, if he fucked up i can understand this thread ,however he didn't fuck up,in fact he didn't do anything wrong all game, so why are people on here blaming him for the 1 shot 1 goal ? , some people for whatever reason don't rate edi, which is fair enough, but to blame him for yesterday is wrong.

btw way, with your (bizarre reckoning) we should sign a keeper with a better save ratio , claudio bravo it is then(see how fucking pathetic that argument is)

You refer to one match, and you're quite correct, he was left exposed by poor defending (Laporte) and it would have been anything but a routine save.
You conveniently overlook many other games where he has performed poorly when a shot is on target.
He needs to work harder on the basics imo, as he appears to do most things in instalments.

De Gea made two crucial reaction saves for the rags today.. Based on his performances this season, I think we can safely say that Ederson wouldn't have got near either

Szczesny is going to be made available but there are not going to be many takers on this forum.

Nowt wrong with Ortega imo, and Ederson just needs to improve on the basics.
Ortega isn't any better to honest either. The Southampton performance has put me off giving him the starting spot. As far as Ederson improving on "basics" that is down to the two Goalkeeping coaches as well and they aren't doing a bad job. And if he was really bad with the basic part of goalkeeping he wouldn't be a professional never mind playing for City.
