Ortega already putting the squeeze on as that was a solid goalkeeping performance.

Took crosses really well
Saved a 1v1 - usually weakness of his
Stopped the offside 1v1

He should have saved Nunez goal and the penalty. He gets worse with every passing game.
I’m not having any keeper getting stick for not saving pens. I expect us to score every pen we have and we should expect the opposition to do the same.

As for the Nunez goal…it started with shit control from Bernie, followed by Kyle ball-watching and finished by our CBs not bothering.

Yeah no doubt it started with Bernie & was followed by ball watching but he should have saved that lets be honest.

There’s very few instances where I would say it’s on the keeper for not saving it. They are usually where they guess the right way, the pen isn’t well struck and it basically goes right through the keeper. The Aguero v Kepa in the CC final shootout springs to mind. It wasn’t like that today.

As usual with Ederson I can see his passing is mostly excellent which is central to our game. He’s won the golden gloves (thinks it’s called) and we concede so few. I see other keepers make mistakes and think that any criticism of Ederson is harsh.

But I do wish once in a while he would make a wonder save in a key game (not that today was the most important). And save a penalty.

At what fucking point does he save that? He’s not in the Matrix, slowing time down so he can move faster than other people… there’s no fucking way he’s saving that

Saved a 1 on 1 with Nunez and had no chance with any of the goals.
A save for me is when the ball is going to the side of the keeper and he either uses either his limbs to stop the ball. That shot hit him plumb in the face and frankly a corpse would have stopped it.

The penalty is debatable but his consistency at failing to stop them, even when he goes the right way must bring into question his reflex speed. He is a big lump however and naturally will be slower to react. Pep has to balance whether what he brings as effectively an extra sweeper compensates his limited ability to shot stop?

I still think he provides a level of composure and reassurance to a defence playing out that I've never seen any other keeper come near, but conversely he seldom fills me with any confidence when a save is required, and that in a nutshell is the dilemma the manager faces; does what he gives the team negate what his limitations are, and results in the 5 years he's been here suggests it does.....for now!

If you think Eddie was culpable for the goals yesterday you really do live up to your username. 1st. Deflection takes it away from him 2nd. Salah hits it hard just inside the post 3rd. if you really, really think Eddie should have done better, then at least be consistent and slate Walker for not keeping the defensive line and Dias for watching Nunes. I mean fucking hell mate.

Mad isn’t it? Courtois had a worldie in the CL final and some people lost their minds over goalkeeping. Ederson became the worst keeper overnight, despite not playing since.

Then, when he finally does play, he saves a one on one and had no chance with the goals and he’s confirmed their already made up minds that he’s shit.

Then the one on one save doesn’t count as it didn’t hit a limb!

Are you suggesting that people lowered their ratings on Ederson because of how Courtois played in the champions league final? If so thats ridiculous.

Also it would seem that views on Ederson do seem to tip the balance from good to bad & its not just because of yesterday. Sometimes you have to accept that people have different opinions from yourself & that you wont be able to change their minds by forcing your opinion on people & insulting them.

I don't think anyone's arsed about making you change your mind.

Ederson can stand on the edge of the box sprint 20 yards out and beat the attacker to the ball and prevent a one on one
That’s a save , it stops a goal scoring opportunity
To suggest he did t save the attempt which hit him in the face is ludicrous
It hit him because he was sharp of his line and blocked the shot
Look at the difference in quality between Ederson and Steffen
Big Eddie rarely drips a cross and is so composed with his feet
I wouldn’t swap him for anyone
Furthermore how many penalties does Salah miss …not many
