A save for me is when the ball is going to the side of the keeper and he either uses either his limbs to stop the ball. That shot hit him plumb in the face and frankly a corpse would have stopped it.
The penalty is debatable but his consistency at failing to stop them, even when he goes the right way must bring into question his reflex speed. He is a big lump however and naturally will be slower to react. Pep has to balance whether what he brings as effectively an extra sweeper compensates his limited ability to shot stop?
I still think he provides a level of composure and reassurance to a defence playing out that I've never seen any other keeper come near, but conversely he seldom fills me with any confidence when a save is required, and that in a nutshell is the dilemma the manager faces; does what he gives the team negate what his limitations are, and results in the 5 years he's been here suggests it does.....for now!
