As Vini was going through 1 on 1 early in the game there was only ever going to be 2 outcomes, score or an Ederson brainfart and give away a pen.
Saved by the third option of offside

He's just so bad at everything other than his feet.
And he gives away plenty of goals with his feet too.

when you have a top player so close to join Saudi league for 3x the salary and 10x lesser professional level they are basically ready to check out from elite football.
should have Liverpool hold onto Henderson, Fabinho when they were happy to go to Saudis? not at all. they used that to actually charge the buyers more...

problem is he did check out imo but we were adamant to keep him still.

That’s great. Apart from the fact he was at fault for the 2 goals that lost us this tie tonight.

For me the kick was a mistake, but any aggressive keeper is coming to meet Vini there, you don't see many stay on their line.

Both those goals were defendable, hardly Ederson solely responsible.

The Saudi thing was never real though according to some folk on here, because the story originated from Sam Lee and he is unreliable because….reasons?… and Ederson’s girlfriend denied it on Instagram.

this 100%. Will always be grateful for his performance in the CL final against Inter but well past time to go now.

The kick for the second was terrible, but his attempted save, pushing it out to he most dangerous area was also shocking

Agree. Miskicks and stuff like that happen. The save was just poor goalkeeping. Keepers used to catch those! Even discounting that, there was one place to not push it out to, but that's where it ended up.

Worse than that, he didn't even have his hands up, tried to save with his chest
I can't decide which option annoys me more: he was either too slow to get ready for the shot everyone knew was coming, or he stupidly thought that trying to control it with his chest instead of doing absolutely anything else was a good idea.

Thats how goalies are tought now. They keep their hands low.

He's an idiot. World class save or Lukaku hitting him with his wide open header?
He's been an integral part of our success and owns the term 'sweeper keeper' and twice you've called him an idiot.

I suggest you look in the mirror and you'll soon see what an idiot looks like.

Like a lot of the current squad Ederson peaked upon sealing the Treble. He's been getting worse ever since. This season has seen a dramatic drop off. Sad but there's little room for sentiment if you want to win stuff at this level and that's what Pep and the recruitment team have been guilty of IMO.

Anyway, Eddie and Walker should have been replaced post treble season.

Bernardo, Grealish and Akanji should have been replaced last summer.

KDB you could argue should have been replaced last summer too. Though I'd keep him on as he can become our Modric if hes willing to accept that role. He can be a game changer even if he's having a shit day but it's clear he can't last more than 60mins

They've all been legends. Anyone part of the squad in the last 4 years will go down in City history but father time catches up with everyone at some point. We've absolutely squeezed every drop out of this squad and it's telling now.

These players plus Gundo and Nunes need to go. Gundo absolute hero but looks leggy. Nunes just isn't good enough and with summer recruits coming in, the man has no place in the squad tbh.

The likes of Rico and Kovacic should be bench warmers (particularly Rico - I don't think he'll ever be good enough to start but he's young and could improve, ya never know, stranger things have happened).

Hopefully the summer revamp revitalises Foden and he can form part of the new core crop of players. If summer recruitment goes well the group that are left (Haaland, Marmoush, Foden, Nico, Rodri, Dias, Gvardiol, Stones + Reis & Khusanov) can form a team capable of challenging for multiple major honors again.

Ake. Great servant but will there be room for him after the summer especially with his with his age and injury record this year?

Savinho & Doku - the jury is out on them. Both have been inconsistent. On current form, I'm not sure either can become world class like their most obvious past comparators - Mahrez and Sane respectively. McAtee - is he good enough? Seen glimpses of brilliance but can he step up and be a genuine starting XI contender? It's these players just below the starting XI that have a massive impact on success. They have to be putting enough pressure on starters know those in the 1st XI can't drop their levels for fear of being dropped. At the moment nobody at this level of the squad seems good enough to this.

Bobb is our best promising youngster and I'm sure will be immense for us. Hopefully Echeverri can follow but I know little about him. Likewise with McFarlane, how much can he push our senior LB for a place?

We have a massive job in the summer. Hope the fucking club world cup bollocks doesn't ruin everything.

But yeah Ederson - time to go mate. It's been good but nothing lasts forever.
