Bit of a reminder of just how good he is with the ball.
I was thinking maybe differently.
His short passing was very poor.
However those long passes that he hardly ever does were spot on. He hit 3 in a row that landed right onto Haaland. Another landed on DeBruynes head that lead to Fodens goal.
Opponents have cottoned on to those short passes around our penalty box.
He made 3 brilliant advances from his line to cut out a Chelsea attack.

Think his head has been turned by Saudi offers. He obviously wanted out in the summer and he has been in and out of the team this year.

He is vital to us. I really hope he signs a new deal
Who knows for sure.

My take though is that Ederson has a fragile ego and was hurt that Pep started Ortega ahead of him after some of his errors. I suspect that Ederson is with us long term.

A major factor arguing against his possible move to Saudi, is that it likely torpedos his chance at Brazil #1, which I think, he really wants.

Why do you feel it's unlikely?

We really should do more of Ederson hitting Haaland long. The inclusion of Marmoosh will occupy of defenders and leave Haaland with one man on him rather than two
We just need to move the ball quicker in the whole pitch, we became so slow and predictable, more down to ageing personel I would say but new, young pacey players should improve that.

Vital for me Ederson stays, not sure their is any keeper like him available, his distribution is simply outstanding and at his best it's like having an extra outfield player.

It’s one of them where I wouldn’t be surprised either way, stay or leave.

Surprised no one has posted about how good he was tonight. He was my MOTM. He made a number of big stops and the team seemed to have a lot more confidence and impetus afterward. His passing was also great, even if he wasn’t playing as many direct long passes as he did against Chelsea.

Never has a player fitted a system and a style of play more than this guy does with us.
I remember when pep first came i said to my old man Hart will be gone..he thought I was mad.
When he first watched ederson drop the ball out of his hands and curle a 40 yard pass to a city player I said that's why Hart had to go.
Amazing withhis feet..not so amazing at saving shots.
But the best keeper we could have.
I hope he stays

All needed saving of course, some were smart enough but in general they were pretty standard saves i'd say. Did really well for one block after a bit of a goal mouth scramble that was eventually flagged offside and some good sweeping. Played his role tonight for sure but I think motm is too strong.

To each their own opinion, of course, but I do think many are underestimating his contribution to the result, which does seem to happen quite often with Eddie (though, I suppose that is common for keepers, to be fair).

Regarding the potentially game-saving block (given the circumstances) that was eventually flagged offside, the replays indicated that had they scored it could have stood as it was actually a very tight call.

Luckily he made sure VAR couldn’t intervene.
