Anyone else remember Jon Macken lobbing Weaver from the half way line at Deepdale?
Fucking North Enders still go on about t now

After winning the league cup in 1976, i thought we would rule the world then in
77 i remember crying my eyes out when we lost against derby county I think?
to lose the league and finish one point behind Liverpool.

The return of Malcolm Allison (sad sight) and the clearout and destruction of a great side what was he doing and what was SWALES thinking getting rid of Book, his ego was well out of control.

The 81 replay and Ricky villa's goal and standing up and sitting in the aisle on the train on the way home after a city fan denied me a seat I was only young but I remember the snide look the city fan gave me thank you who ever you were.

Alf Grey denying the goal that hit the underneath of the Crossbar and crossed the line against Liverpool at home in the semi-final and remember being really upset at the ref we were robbed.

Relagated against Luton town@ Maine Rd being very angry and shocked at the end of the game.

Relagated against Liverpool@Maine Rd and watching the liverpool players trying to lose the game and watching Lomas keeping it in the corner flag area.
Comical but really sad.

And many more much more OMG!! not mentioned the 90s or noughties yet!

35 yrs of hurt most definitely!!!

Love this club CTID!!

The high of the last few weeks has removed every little bit of hurt i ever felt supporting city, I am still grinning like a cheshire cat and still singing 'who put the ball in th stokies net?' I have been to southend, colchester, york, wycombe, city at home to Liverpool when relegated and been through the worse but by f**ck it has made this such an incredible high because without those lows I would not be feeeling like I still do now, I will never feel better than this as this is the start of everything........like the birth of your first child, like life begining !!! I have always been proud to be a blue but now I'm bursting.

City 2 - 2 Liverpool
Relegation confirmed and Steve Lomas keeping the ball in the corner when he thought we were safe.

Stockport County 3 - 1 City
Three down at half time to them wankers!

Stoke 2 - 5 City
Relegation to Division 2, need I explain more!

York City 2 - 1 City
Going down to twelveth in Division 2, I think that result and where it put us changed our season.

Gillingham 2-0 City
I remember thinking were never gonna get out of this division and if we didn't eventually win the game where would we be now!

I could probably have come up with 20 or 50, but off the top off my head...

Cup Final, Spurs '81 - Just ten minutes or so from seeing City win the Cup and then that og. Who'd have thought it would be 30 years and a few days with just a few minutes left to play against a poor Spurs team? Loathed Spurs ever since.

Luton H '83 - My first taste of relegation against Luton. No other relegation was this bad again. Pleat on the pitch. City fans on the pitch. Luton's players trying to get off the pitch. How we got away with that one I don't know... and Dennis Tueart's last game, I think.

Derby A '89 - Lost 6-0. Pathetic, gutless performance at the Baseball Ground - one ground we rarely won on.

Rags A - Can't remember the year. Lost 5-0. Went home when the third was going in. Disgusted. Thought Horton should have resigned after that.

York A '98 - Lost 2-1 in a ground so shambolic there weren't even any toilets in the away end. Our lowest ever position. Fact.

Oh gosh, so many.

Erm. No prticualr order.

1.Relegated by Luton and Pleat dancing on the pitch.
2.York away. Lost 2-1 and ended up at our lowest position in the old 3rd division table.
3.United 5-0 City. It could have been 10-0 that night. We got away with murder in all honesty
4.City 2-3 United.(CITY 2-0 UP) Left early as I knew United were going to score a 3rd. Walking out of the Kippax entrance and I heard the Unied fans roaring. My head dropped and that sinking feeling took over.
5. FA Cup final 81. Tommy's own goal and I can't mention it.(He's from Argentina and had a big moustache)
6. Perm the rest over the last 35 years. There's been so many. :-(

This is an excellent thread btw..

1) Relegation 83', probably my fist season where I took an interest in City/football. Was 16, in Withington hospital recovering from an appendix op - you were in all week in those days! Did not assist the recovery much....
2) Kendel leaving to go back to the missus!
3) Horton sacked. Loved his football, the best we had, for me and I include Keegan 01-02 in that. I just remember thing that 'Forward with Franny' had become a case of the 'same old same old'
4) Ball, RIP, but what a disaster and wholly Lee's fault. Clueless, inept, behind the times, deficiant. Thats both of them by the way!
5) 1-8 at Boro 2008, all the optimism of Thaksin and Sven evaporated (and all the press that close season that we were skint and looking like doing a Leeds).

However, little did we know.....

not even going to think about them, from now on its up up high and thats all that matters.
We will still have lows, that's football. The highs would be meaningless without the lows, that's why I feel sorry for the gloryhunters
