37 years ago today - City win the FA Youth Cup

I was there, great night. I've no idea how some of those kids didn't bring us success, although as you say a few did go onto play a fair few games.

I went to both legs too. I met Steve Mills in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup. He’d moved there to try and play at a lower level due to injuries, but it didn’t work out. He stayed in SA and had a successful printing business.

Went the 2 youth final final games and roll on 3 years to 1989 we were in Poland to watch England v Poland in Katowice ( the 0-0 draw got us to Italia 90, Shilton superb). Afternoon before we went to watch the England under 21's in a place not Katowice. Lakey, Redmond, Brightwell ( scored) and Whitey were starters. Sure Hinchcliffe was on bench and maybe Scott., Moulden or both Paul Merson played and Steve Bull scored 2 as well as Brightwell in a 3-1 England u 21 win. Apologies if not 100% correct but near. Mad trip, mad days loved it.
10th October 1989
Doesn't give the subs, but Paul Moulden and Ian Scott were not selected for any U21's squad, while Andy Hinchcliffe only played once (v Denmark at Watford)

Poland 1 England 3 (Bull 2, Brightwell)
