the last trophy was won in 1976 if I remember correctly, so thats 35 years. your mate cant od maths for shit.

or do rags really go as far as looking 100 years back and mocking a club for their ancient history? cause thats pretty sad.

Yes Nino, Rags do go back 100 years and include League wins in 1907-08 and 1910-11 as part of their 18 championships.

37 years.

Ignore the world war, unless that was our fault. 37 years is 37 years, not seasons.

How can you 'ignore' two world wars?

Thanks for the answers guys its amazing how they go on about there history but tend to leave out there shite parts!!

how can you ignore two world wars ?

Just the same way Utd ignore The Ireland Conflict, the cold war, The Falklands, Gulf Wars 1 & 2, Iraq, Afghanistan ETC ETC.

Football still got played . But that was only if you got out of your armchairs

I was watching highlights of the 1989 5-1 before. At that time, we were the last club to win a league title from Greater Manchester. It makes our descent in the 90s a lot harder to take. Although, I suspect, many of us will appreciate our impending success a lot more having experienced the lows of football, and found out what it means to be a true supporter.

As for United, weren't there replacement trophies available to win during the wars?

ok then we'll include the world wars. the rags didn't win a single wartime trophy during either of the world wars. yes, they were that shit. city on the other hand did win trophies during wartime. but that's all been erased from the rags' history because it's an inconvenient truth.

Yes, every season during both Wars there were league and cup competitions. They may not be recognised now in official records, but it was organised professional football and still they won nothing, so the argument that the War seasons detract from the 37 years doesn't hold.

And I agree with the first part of your post. I actually started going in the seventies. We weren't far behnd them in crowd terms, our record in the derby over the previous decade had been much better than theirs and we'd won more than them in the recent past. We generated a lot of money and our ground was used for semi finals and representative games, often ahead of theirs. I'd argue that the descent began in about 1982, and it was pretty hearbreaking how sh!t we were for how long given the level we'd been at previously.

Hopefully we'll make up for it now, though.

Hmm here's another interesting one.

1878-1948. 70 years, just 4 trophies won.
