Its an exaggeration to say I couldnt care less about United winning the league. But if we finish 3rd or 4th and win the Cup, any disappointment over them winning the league pales into insignificance.
4th is more than acceptable. But 3rd is vastly better than 4th. The CL qualifier can be a lottery because of the time its played, as Spurs nearly discovered. And it disrupts pre season. And if we overtake Arsenal it will be a big deal, both in terms of self belief and ability to recruit the really top players.

It's worse than that, of course. Spurs went into the qualifier as seeds. We will almost certainly go in as unseeded, meaning we will get one of the harder teams to play against.

this is City, we struggled against Midytland in the waffa a couple of seasons ago and were unlucky to go out in the quarters the same season.
The last thing I want is some half bit team in the qualifiers. And who's to say we'd get a half bit team, Everton got knocked out by Anderlecht in their qualifier.
Spurs got young boys of Berne and got their arses handed to them over in Switzerland. They were lucky to get out of there with 2 away goals.
