4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Just for balance wolves have shown since that they are the worst side in the League, not much wonder he looked decent in that game. Shouldn't be starting, offering nothing .
That is it in a nut shell, anybody could have looked good against Wolves. He is simply not good enough for any team wanting to challenge for top honours.

disappointing so far.

He looks like he has great technical skill and real drive but he also looks to be either struggling physically or mentally with the game....he seems to lack fight and desire in any shape or form but especially with any defensive aspect of being a midfielder.

Reijnders has been disappointing especially after looking like he would be a good attacking threat following pre season and the game against Wolves.

The frustrating thing is, and this isn’t just Reijnders but also nearly every player we have signed the last couple of years, the area of the team that we really needed to improve was dealing with losing the ball and quick transitions against us, essentially without the ball we were poor. Now every single review of Reijnders I read before he signed was that he was a good player but without the ball not very good. We cannot all be shocked that 9 weeks into the season he isn’t very good when we don’t have the ball. It’s bad planning from the club, again.

See the same for Ait Nori, Savinho, Cherki, Marmoush, Nunes all technical but weak without the ball. At least Nico G has turned a corner a bit. We can only hope the others improve as well.

Yes Nico G looks like he wants to be a Pep player and all credit to him.

Give him a year to get used to the pace and physicality and he'll be one of the best midfielders in the league. The vision and technique is there in spades.

I feel a bit sorry for the lad. He can’t really play the 6 the way Rodri or Nico do, he can’t do the 8 like Bernardo or a fully fit Kovačić, and in the 10 he doesn’t offer the same attacking range you get from Foden or Cherki. The good thing is we’ve got 50+ games a season, so he’ll still have plenty of chances to show what he’s got.

Pep has basically played him at every opportunity, and it seems like vs Bournemouth he wasnt fit. I would expect him to come back in against Liverpool, but he needs to start producing some numbers or fans will get on his back, especially when cherki is the alternative.

If we are talking about the system yesterday, then Reijnders would fill in more easily as the defensive 10 that Foden played.

But what what I would really want is to see him play that defensive 8 role Bernie did next to the DM.

The issue with either role is Reijnders needs to up his defensive game, it's a big weakness for me right now, but those 2 spots are his for loads of minutes of rotation.

As he should at that price!
As supporters, we really need to wean ourselves off our obsession with player "price"
Football is now a billionaire's (trillionaire's) playground.
We go on as if we've funded it personally - there will be successes and disappointments - but the price indignation is old hat.

Not when someone has paid £115m for a 21 year old midfielder. "He had promise" shouldn't even need to be stated.

I'm not fussed what they pay, that's up to them, but if you pay a special price for a player, we shouldn't be surprised if, after allowing for a settling in period, we start to see some special performances.

Some players take longer to settle in than others. I can remember when a future European star was getting slagged off for losing the ball in dangerous positions. Rodri didn't turn out too bad did he.?
