4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

yeah ,it makes me scream behind the tv ,when we loose another 50-50 duel or i see our player taking his foot off ,when has a chance to go for a tackle or win a ball. It happens too many times and our players need to toughen up.

Agreed. I’ve thought this for quite a while. They need toughening up, not pampering. Get a couple of Army PT instructors or rugby gym coaches in and do some proper training.

Especially Reijnders the soft ****.

The worst thing is the most technical players come from the academy like Nico O'Reilly who have been taught how to play for 9 years.. but instead he doesn't play them and wants the "experienced" players to do it instead when it's not part of their game.

I truly don't understand it sometimes.
Pep is definitely blooding NOR into a midfield role he need more work especially on his weaker side but IMHO he will become a stable there his long term position isn't LB

I can see not one single redeeming feature in this player, scoring the odd goal doesn’t count.
It's great he's bagged a couple goals, but I can't help but think his lack of actual midfielding ability has led to us conceding a couple. He doesn't put a tackle in or fight for 50/50s, he doesn't work hard enough to make himself an option to receive the ball and carry it forward and he gives it away too cheaply when opposition get within arms reach of him.

What's crazy is he has all the physical traits and technical ability to be a Gundo/KdB hybrid, but he just doesn't deliver on the pitch. He can drop deep to help us pass through a press like Gundo could and he has the pace to pick the ball up and beat a couple men through the midfield and play a ball forward like de Bruyne (just carrying like Kevin, not passing). I can't tell if it's a lack of aggression/willingness to impose himself on the game, a lack of intelligence to know where to be and where players around him are or a combination of both.

Difficult to argue with that assessment.

Genuinely look too lightweight and passive for the PL, at this moment in time.

I still have a little hope he'll come around, but it might not be until the last handful of games or next season. My biggest concern regarding that is that he doesn't even look confident or competent in the CL which is where I thought he'd slot right in.

Are you my high school coach??

I remember getting that exact lecture and was converted from a winger to DM.. somehow still managed to snag 10 goals as a DM.

Very good when given space to do his thing. Credit where its due. Kev influenced games when not given space though

It’s hard just giving props eh
No, which is what I just did. I just know there will loads of criticism next time we dont play a team in a bad run of form that plays into our hands, because the way we have wanted to play so far in the new year doesn't suit Reij at all
