4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Good first half, then a second half full of fatigue. Still maintain the fact that he isn’t a Pep number 8. He’s a counter attacking one.

With his pace and energy he has the ability to bring so much to the side. It was evident in the first half, but he's prone to playing too expansively when we're under more pressure. What's happening in second halves of games is teams are taking more risks because they're already behind. We need to be much smarter with the ball and it might be as simple as Reijnders being a little bit less aggressive in his play. Retain possession and if you do commit to going forward don't play the high risk pass, be a little bit more sensible so you are there to protect the defence if we do lose it.

If he "gets it" with Pep next season he'll soar imo.

14 G/A in 36 games is pretty solid considering he's been played all over the midfield and has taken time to settle in.

We need midfielders that we can rely on to get 10 goals and 10 assists across a season. Reijnders is one.
He is but unfortunately we have to carry him and we've enough baggage already.

He will get it, the usual attack dogs will then have to accept it.

I believe so too.

If you break down his attributes.. he can score, he can carry the ball, he's got pace, he can pass, he makes intelligent runs.

There's no doubt there's a very good player there if it all comes together. I've always thought so. Just felt he lacks a bit of fire...or maybe he just needs to be more sure of himself.

Let's see. I think the ability is there.
.

I must admit I had no idea he had that kind of pace when space opens up in front of him. Particularly pleased for him and Marmoush. The two that haven't particularly convinced me this season. His movement off the ball was impressive, too.
Happy to be wrong. Now… can they confirm?

i don't quite know where he needs to play but if pep finds the right position for him.. i saw shades of kev in there yesterday.

It's great he's bagged a couple goals, but I can't help but think his lack of actual midfielding ability has led to us conceding a couple. He doesn't put a tackle in or fight for 50/50s, he doesn't work hard enough to make himself an option to receive the ball and carry it forward and he gives it away too cheaply when opposition get within arms reach of him.

What's crazy is he has all the physical traits and technical ability to be a Gundo/KdB hybrid, but he just doesn't deliver on the pitch. He can drop deep to help us pass through a press like Gundo could and he has the pace to pick the ball up and beat a couple men through the midfield and play a ball forward like de Bruyne (just carrying like Kevin, not passing). I can't tell if it's a lack of aggression/willingness to impose himself on the game, a lack of intelligence to know where to be and where players around him are or a combination of both.
What a load of shite

He needs to play pretty much where he played yesterday in a 4222, 2 midfielders behind him 2 attackers in front making space fo him to play as one of 2 10s

Good ball carrier - particularly on the counter.
Good finisher in general.
Unselfish player.

Those are thing that can be worked with.

Based on one performance or what? He’s glaringly absent for large periods of games when our midfielders are supposed to be much more involved.
we all watched him pussy out of the challenge vs Elanga that lead to the goal. Yes he gets GA but he isn’t a Gundo type midfielder

Good player and scoring goals but will never be an aggressive midfielder but j can see him scoring over 10 goals next season which will be a plus .

For what it’s worth (and it may not be much as I still am trying to work him out), but I could see him excel in a similar role to that of Bellingham in his first season at Madrid if ever needed, or even firmino during his time at the dippers.

It would remove the majority of his defensive responsibility and we have the “wide” players to contribute with goals

Marmoush - Reijnders - Semenyo

Mane - Firmino - Salah

Obviously not going to be preferred lineup as we have Haaland as focal point, but could be an interesting option.

Just thinking out loud, please don’t come for me haha
