40% City fans

How can you sensibly argue with a club that calls itself "the world's most popular football team" on it's own fking official website?

Arrogant,condescending pricks.

Fuck me, why bother asking a question?

What percentage is United?

I think you've stumbled into a typical mathematical trap.

If 40% of Manchester (I don't know the figures, just working off what you originally said) is City fans, then the assumption is 60% supports United.

When in fact, 60% aren't City fans - that's 60% built up of non-football fans, fans of other local teams and fans of other non-local teams.

So, the majority can be 40%, even though it's below half.

i could be wrong but i always though that technically thats a plurality not a majority, majority being 50% +1 with a plurality being the most popular without having more than half.

Yeah, it is. Just a semantic point, really.

Like how our first past the post system of voting is called a simple plurality voting system.

I`m an inner city blue from Newton eef, but now live in Stalyvegas (its still full of whippets) but lived in Droylsden which is mainly Blue then Audenshaw which is deffo Blue then bypassed the shithole that is Ashton (full of scum) quite a few mad ferret blues up here, but in general its probably the norm that the farther you get away from Gods country (Manchester you pie heads) its glory country, my mate says dead fish swim with the tide!!!!! Nited fans are well lets face it on the whole wonderful ? and the ones from the home counties ! well lets be honest.........they must be soooooo loyal we are just not in the same league.... can i remove tongue from cheek now.

'Rag' here, but I'm not here to take the piss, just state a few facts. That map meen fuck all as it just shows who has the most season ticket holders inside Manchester and obviously city are going to have more becuse their support is confined just in gtr manchester area whereas United have people from all over the country buying season tickets, plus our ticket prices are a lot higher and I don't think there's many lads from the staunch red inner city areas like Ancoats, miles platting and collyhurst who can afford £800 a year.

In terms of absolute number of supporters, Manchester is overwhelmingly red and i'm glad to see some of you are finally starting to admit it.
you mean armchair fans right? NOT supporters

Some of 'em don't have a choice, what with prices of tickets these days and demand from elsewhere and I've been one of them for the last five years.

In the last five years the amount of lads i know snapping up spare rag tickets has gone through the roof. Compare that to years ago when you could come and go as you please with no memberships needed and United and City charging the lowest first div prices and many ,many a rag sat in our pub turning down 2 or 3 spares at a time plus a free lift. Also happened to be the ones who shouted the loudest in the pub.
