Of course, I'm not precious! I'm close to 60. It wasn't the norm what happened at Oldham. It was bullying, the numbers of City fans compared to Oldham was massive. I was there, and the way some wankers behaved is nothing to be proud of. So if any of the knob heads are here and are proudly celebrating what happened, I think is beyond disgusting.Out of curiousity and if you don't mind me asking your age - by all means tell me to mind my own business
But as others have said, it was different times back then and whilst in todays world it would seem ridiculous what happened in those days, it truly was the norm - maybe not the Oldham Notts County games as they were extreme, but it happened ona aweekly basis, by lots of fans of clubs, up and down the country.
Not glorifying it, but they were the times......and in those times, City certainly knew how to embrace those days!!
My mate was lay down swimming at the bottom of the terrace, loads of blues jumped the fence to get undercover in the empty stand next us and a lad got trampled messing about trying to get out of the rain under a fkn police horse. Varadi scored 1-1What was the game at Oldham when we were locked on the terraces and it leathered it down for about fifteen minutes? Proper monsoon.
Yep, it got a bit naughty at Blackpool that day, and i landed up scaling the fence to get on the pitch with my young son to dodge all the sharp bits of corrugated roofing that was being chucked about by both sets of fans .... the city fans who had come on the pitch from the side, to dodge the trouble, were then relocated behind one of the goals ..... the game was stopped for a short while, but did resume , and i think we lost 2-1 .Blackpool was mayhem in the Fa cup when bits of roofing was used has frisbies by both set of fans chucking at each other
City fans ended up on the pitch & game was stopped if i remember right ?
And Stoke away.Oldham and Blackpool were two that were always off the scale for City taking the piss.
Oldham's chairman.I know it was unusual then but a game like this should have been all ticket?
Who made the decision for it not to be all ‘all ticket’? GMP
Durrrrrshut it Mrs Mop . Every fucker was there that day. Part of being City back then.
No it isn’t. But it was 6 pages back. And I’ve now deleted it
Yeah it was a bit scary when both sets of fans started chucking roof bits .Yep, it got a bit naughty at Blackpool that day, and i landed up scaling the fence to get on the pitch with my young son to dodge all the sharp bits of corrugated roofing that was being chucked about by both sets of fans .... the city fans who had come on the pitch from the side, to dodge the trouble, were then relocated behind one of the goals ..... the game was stopped for a short while, but did resume , and i think we lost 2-1 .
It also 'kicked off' before the game in the town centre in a few places, in a couple of pubs, and also in the street behind the Tower ... although there was a rumour that scousers were behind the skirmishes with City fans, as well as local Backpool yobs.
The rags also lost in the cup that day ... at Bournemouth 2-0.
Notts County away .That was the game disgruntled Blues got in the dressing room at halftime if memory serves me right
100%. You can also add DMs, as was the case when I made my earlier post. I had two DMs questioning the credentials of the poster in question. No it isn’t. But it was 6 pages back. And I’ve now deleted it
We Mods don’t spend 24 hours / 7 days a week on here checking every little thing posted, we rely on members reporting comments that may need checking / deleting.
No it wasn’t an alcohol fuelled comment! It certainly wasn’t ’humorous high jinks’ where I was sitting (family stand don’t forget) If it would have killed me, which it could have such was the force of the push and fall - would that of been high jinks? The fact that an 11 year old city fan has a scar for life on his forehead that’s visible now in his 50’s, caused by his own teams fans high jinks? City fans sticking up for themselves and their own is all well and good, but this was total red scouse behaviour. I certainly hope you or none of the hugely hard tough boys on here have ever posted a single word against the scousers coin throwing, permanently scaring and feral behaviour on here. That’d be a bit hypocritical wouldn’t it? Anyway, so long as you had a laugh that’s the main thingI suspect you may have had a drink wattle.
Nobody is glorifying deliberate violence against kids. I'm sure that every single one of the posters on here reminiscing fondly about this away day would share your outrage had the 11 year old kid in question been their child but that doesn't preclude them from enjoying, in most cases vicariously, the extreme anti social behaviour of the City fans at Oldham. It was largely humorous high jinks, certainly judged by the standards of the time, and if the occasional accidental injury resulted well that's just bad luck. One person having their own bad day does not stop everybody else's day being great.
Fuckin hell! Are you his dad? What’s it got to do with anyone apart from himself how often he posts? Not everyone is a sad guy like you and me who post every day :)If you only wanted to read, I'm pretty sure you can do that without signing up. Unless the software has changed, you don't need to be a member if you only want to read posts. It just seems odd that you made the effort to sign up, then not take advantage of that to put your views across more often. We welcome input on here; the more, the merrier. Plus, it's disappointing when people sign up, then (for whatever reason) can't be bothered to join in with the debates.
No; I'm not his dad. If I was, he'd have been sent to bed with no jelly and ice cream. As I've pointed out earlier this morning, I was responding to a couple of DMs questioning that poster's lack of input. Nothing more, nothing less.Fuckin hell! Are you his dad? What’s it got to do with anyone apart from himself how often he posts? Not everyone is a sad guy like you and me who post every day :)
I do in my house because there is a light that never goes outGet over it lad do you still leave the light on at night for a pee pee diddums
Was that not an early away game in 1983 after luton relegated us. I was wet through to my undercrackers and my programme from that game is all but destroyed, still got it though. Might be wrong the old grey matter isn't what it used to be.What was the game at Oldham when we were locked on the terraces and it leathered it down for about fifteen minutes? Proper monsoon.
