It's a real 'come and get him' valuation. He doesn't seem to have any future at City, so the low price will open plenty of doors for him.
City will obviously include a decent sell-on percentage clause, so it's good for all parties.

There's a lot of value in selling players to clubs where they can succeed and where they're highly visible.

People can complain about Liverpool selling Ibe, Solanke and Brewster for a lot of money but I guarantee every chairman is thinking twice about signing any liverpool kid now, they don't want to be humiliated.

Tosin goes to Fulham and everyone sees him doing well, sees bigger clubs linked with him and it's an advertisement for the academy and the quality of player. We will do much better out of it long term than selling him for £10m to some shite Championship club and he drops off the map forever.

You have to build up a reputation, and then that reputation helps you get better loan spots for the next generation, and eventually higher fees that don't leave anyone feeling cheated.

The same is true of Mooy and Harrison. They are adverts for NYCFC and Melbourne and their plans to be a player pathway into europe. We could have sold Mooy for a few million more to some mess of a club and no one would have heard of him. Get him the right club and now he's proof that Melbourne is a pathway for young Australian talent who want to break into Europe. Harrison is doing the same for MLS and NYCFC.

Good for the academy also. It's important to put our graduates in situations they can succeed in and have them do well. Over the long term it should benefit recruiting as families see that we'll do right by them even if they don't make it at City, and more clubs will be looking at our academy products as well after a few really start kicking on. Both things are way more valuable than extracting a few pounds more here and there.

Possibly a buy-back clause as well. Fingers crossed it goes well for him wherever he goes.

The current EDS/academy system was designed to help identify, look after and develop players for the benefit of all football, not just individual clubs.
Doors open for those who make it, and for those who don't, they will at the very least have had access to quality education and guidance for the future.
It's for that reason I wouldn't expect to see a constant stream of young players getting through to the first team at City. Our academy gives City 'first pick' of graduates, and in our current position we can afford to be very, very selective.
We'll obviously sell a lot more young lads than we'll keep - the Phil Fodens of this world have always been very few and far between. However, development and sale of lads like Lukas, Tosin, Jadon Sancho etc will be good for the game, and cover the costs of academies.
