I mean this as no criticism of anyone but I think we were playing a slightly asymmetric back 4 with Gvardiol deliberately pushing up further than Khus which afforded moe room down our left than right.

Agreed - although I think Ake/Dias had a slight bias to the left to compensate, which you'd expect, and Khusanov's average position was fairly high.

I was more just suggesting that it didn't appear that most of our problems came on the right.

I think you have to look at who we keep and then add quality
I would only keep

Ortega
Lewis
Dias
Stones
Ake
Khusanov
Reis
Gvardiol
Nico
Rodri
Mcatee
Foden
Savinho
Bobb
Marmoush
Doku
Haaland

For me we need at least four or five more top class signing including
Goalie
Right back
Left back
Two centre mids

This is Madrid's heatmap - suggests they had more luck getting down our left side.

how many full backs has vini jr made to look average for this young lad to play a position he hasn't played before up against arguably the 2 best players atm in mbappe and vini and put in a very good performance fair play to the kid im most looking forward to seeing him play more

It’s too early to assess him either way. I personably didn’t think anyone played particularly well last night. 6/10 maybe for 2/3 players. The rest below.

Hopefully he gets a run of games now as that’s what he needs and it’s what we need for next season as I am sure he has been bought to start games.

Even im that shit show from Pep, this kid is gonna be class for us, I have no worries.

Hopefully he is taking english classes.

Id like to see a couple more defender signings from the french league like him, what a gold mine of talent we should be going for.

Agree but we also need 2-3 elite players, players that come in and take us back up a level or two.

I have zero worries about Reis, Khusanov and Gonzo but they are for the future, we now need some proper classy players coming in.

I think he's got a lot of potential. Physically he's what we need and he's very strong in 1v1 situations.

Though, and I might be being slightly harsh here, there are moments where he looks like he doesn't know where he is, or what he's supposed to be doing.

We can probably put that down to nerves / language / inexperience but hopefully he gains the confidence to be a starting CB.

I can see raw potential but I also see someone that would be much better as a centre back and not as a right back. Would much rather he partnered Gvardiol in the middle and we brought in proper fullbacks. In the meantime, however, just need to get as many minutes into him this season.

FFS needs must, we don't have a RB at this time , Walker gone,, Nunes crap and Akanji crocked.

The lad just played against one of the best teams in the world and against one of the worlds best players Vini Jnr and held his own, respect to the lad.

In the summer we will sign a RB and the kid will become a full time CB.

I have read some very strange 'reviews' of his performance over the last few days. Paul Robinson, for example, described Khusanov as a 'rabbit in the headlights' and 'completely out of place against Vinicius Jr and MBappe.'

I have to believe that this kind of opinion is agenda driven. I cannot see how any former professional could describe Khusanov's performance against Real in such a way. If a 20-year-old right back nullifies Vinicius to such an extent that he has to switch wings, you know he has the potential to be a VERY serious player.

McAtee and O'reilly sat for a couple of months getting zero minutes of PL football, McAtee has had more minutes since then but O'reilly is still not getting any, and they can't learn anything if they never play.
Agree. It pisses me off how little time they get. My point was in relation to last night; there was little option but to chuck Khusanov into the fray.

I wasgoung to pen something

I was going to post something very similar, just lazy editorial driven crap.

The commentators tomorrow will be very quick to continue the rabbit theme, will any VVD mistakes will be glossed over.
I will love it if we win.

I thought he played fantastic the other night, marking a player who’s taken the piss out of a lot of right backs in the past.

Also shows the strength of character the lad has bouncing back from that first half on his debut.

Think he’s going to be fantastic.

First impressions are important for these people that pay very little attention. Both games after Khusanov's debut, I hear commentators bringing up his "difficult start", with barely a compliment. Once a player have even a slightly troubled start, you have to do alot more to wow these people.

Conversely, Rashford's still living off the 2 goals in his debut. Played a part in why he's gassed up so much by the media.
