He was sitting there watching the likes of Akanji or O'Reilly "defend" wondering what the hell has he done wrong. Been brilliant for us and his reward is warming the bench(or the stands) for nearly 3 months.

Akanji has been poor all season, irrespective of his injury or not. No way would I have started him yesterday. Definitely needed a defender, Khusanov would nave fitted the bill, especially as O'Reilly had a bit of a stinker.

I am looking forward to seeing him again. He clearly has a lot of talent and immense physical gifts. He demonstrated that he needs coaching to deal with the press while in possession, but that is normal for a new player (and a young one) in a new system of play. It has been said that Marmoush, Khusanov and Reis were all intentions to be signed in the summer window, but we had an immediate need. When players returned, he lost a place that he probably didn't expect to have so soon.

As things stand, with two games remaining, we shelled out 113 million GBP for three players (Khusanov, Reiss, Gonzalez) who have been given a combined 1,600 minutes between them. That’s a mere 8,125 GBP per minute…
