Akanji isn't really associated with great technical ability - he's average at best, and one of the least technical City players.

His run yesterday was uncharacteristic. It reminded me of that diagonal Fellaini run, where he just ran out of grass. There was no City player near him, and he didn't know what to do.

He's intelligent though. He realises his lack of ability and concentrates on what he does best, which is defending, and laying the ball off to someone nearby with more ability.

I disagree. He is not Stones but for a defender he is good technically. Pep wouldn't have experimented with him in midfield if he wasn't.

this thread is like tv pundits after first 10minutes against chelsea their mind was made up lets crucify him because newcastle had deal in place and city knicked him
the lad cant talk english very young new country and tactics got booked and removed as we all know one more tackle and the ref wouldve sent him off
lets just see what next season brings

Cant say i even noticed he had zero game time in Jan at Lens and then went right in the starting XI here.

22nd Dec was his last games until his Chelsea debut on the 25th Jan.

I would hope that City are working with him on his language skills and perhaps coaching out of him some of the elements of his game which might attract the attention of English referees. I’d expect him to be a regular starter next season. With him, Nunes and Doku we have some real speed in our ranks.

Nothing fundamentally wrong with it. Doesn't pannick under pressure and doing the basic pass very fast compared to Dias/Akanji.

It's true his passing was worse during his last game but it can happen to anyone. He never played 2 games per week before so it was expected at some point

4 hours a week learning English, so he should be fine now.

If he can fucking pass the ball forward at all he'd be better than Akanji or Dias. A worse pair of passers you'll not see. Southampton and Palace were quite happy to let them have so much of it. They knew they'd do fuck all with it. Can't be the language as lillo can't speak a word of it. Been poorly treated.

Just heard Craig Birley on ESPN say that Kush had had a shocking start to his career at City, opbviously a case of him not watching. I thought he was better than that , I was obviously wrong.
Maybe he was being literal and meant the Chelsea game

Yes he's learned the word Baldy & Shampoo lol!

his passing is all over the shop and his concentration iffy

Dortmund fans said when he signed we would get maybe a good year and a half out of him before he went frustratingly average.

If aka ji stqts and kush or reis are loaned out I will lose faith in some of Peps judgement.

Disagree about his passing, it's not bad for a centre back. He understands what Pep wants in terms of positioning well too.

He's a player who has helped us win stuff though - maybe he isn't absolute top tier, but he's good. Which means he's probably better than the kids still right now.

He is weak in the air though, I will say that.

3 seasons ago, he came in did a job, so did laporte, so did delph so did many others in other years

we cannot live off the treble forever.

he has been going wank for 18 months and should not have returned to the starting 11 so easily

one of the first I would sell in july

Fair enough. I think maybe any weaknesses spotted by us have been spotted by opposition teams too. He's decent but not great. I wouldn't necessarily get rid, but some players need to go and I think it should depend on the medical reports for him, Stones and Ake to some extent (although they have HG status, and if it's a foreign player who needs to go, then....)
