Honestly I would just try to sell both of those. They didnt matter this season and shouldn’t the next. Give the minutes to Khusanov and Reis. At least they active + Akanji is there too. That’s more than enough.
I would keep Ake for another season because he has a knack of saving off the line, a goal threat and is solid when fit. Akanji is OK but maybe Reis will need to go on lone to keep match fit, but only for the first half of the season. For me the biggest concern is right back.

Exactly. I saw nothing from Khusanovs performances that would lead me to believe he needs to be loaned. He showed a ton of potential in his limited appearances especially when he was thrown into the fire immediately. His pace is electric for a cb. Easily our quickest cb. He needs to stay and play
He also made some errors and was over hyped on here as everyone was desperate in that gloomy spell.

He is still one for the future.

....then do you believe it?
No
Pep took him off when he got that yellow card.
O Reilly on at LB and Gvardiol at CB had a v good partnership
I do think Pep made a mistake in taking Gvardiol out of CB and bringing in Akanji
Then took Nunes out and replaced him with Akanji.
Worked out OK in the end

Agree.....Kushanov is young, come from a poor standard league, doesn't/didn't speak English, and probably knackered from shagging after getting married (as he knows that won't last long!!)
His pace helped, a quick CB can get away with far more.....there are and have been a few who are poor, but their pace covers it up.....not saying HE'S poor, he hasn't played enough yet, and I don't think he was bought to walk straight into the team if Stones/Dias/Ake/Gvardiol are fit. He'll be fine.

I look at his recovery from those errors and see no need to loan him out. The way he started against Chelsea couldn’t have been worse for any player especially a 20 yr old. But the way he came back and stepped up. That’s the sign of a baller in my opinion. Kid doesn’t speak a lick of English, still very young. But shows tons of promise.

Big mistake if we loan this guy out as he is our future and needs to play next season but have a feeling pep will carry on picking arkanji Dias stones and ake and keep gvadiol on the left .

Ake being left footed and homegrown should keep him around.

Akanji can play basically everywhere in the backline (not better than any of our players though) so his adaptability should keep him around.

Stones has to go, and while I think he is the best defender we have, can't be relied on.

Khusanov on the other hand, is young enough to be molded into whatever Pep envisions.

I currently envision him to be adaptable similar to Jules Kounde.

RCB in a back 4 if both fullbacks bomb wide.

RB in a back 4 as well (like Kounde is currently doing) wherein only the LB bombs wide, but the RB has 3 phases of positioning:

1) RCB in the 1st phase of possession to make sure the team is settled.
2) RCM in the 2nd phase when the team is pinning the opposition back, he doesn't need to be RCB, he needs to be a bit higher to counter press immediately.
3) RWB in moments in a potential 3rd phase wherein the RW drifts in and he can give him an option as a wide fullback with his pace (we see Akanji try to do this but he is so hesitant as its not natural to him like it is Kounde).
