Didn’t need to be subbed off although I think the substitution was more to get width to the byline in NOR and made sense to sub him over Gvardiol/Dias.

No concerns with Khusanov though.
I think it was because he was on a yellow.
Also a half time sub is treated differently to a sub made during play.
Pep made his sub changes well today

Bournemouth obviously targeted him as the weak link in our build up and pressed him hard and he did make some errors because of that.

Totally normal for a rookie defender and he’ll learn from it, but he needs to learn our patterns of play better.
I actually thought they did the opposite. They wete happy for him to have the ball and pressed everyone else.

I think they feared him the least on the ball.

They were funneling play to him, blocking the line to Nunes, forcing him back to Ederson, who was being put under pressure and having to hoof it, often with his right foot. It was very wasteful and was cutting down on our ability to control the build up.

Khusanov is a very young January transfer who has FAR EXCEEDED EARLY EXPECTATIONS and will be Dias replacement in the very near future. People might not see it now, but Dias isn’t the player he was and all the barking and backslapping in the world isn’t going to make up for that.

I agree about Dias as I think after that player of the season award he never reached them heights again and his last two seasons have been poor .

Wasn't great yesterday but he's 20 years old and is going to have bad games and make mistakes. Still has had a really impressive start for us and will be a top player.
Spot on, IMO.
He is a serious prospect and already a very, very good defender.
I think he is less good in the offensive realm, and can be pressed into an error if he has time on the ball.
All of that is well within the scope of his development. At his age, he must be one of the very top defenders in world football. A partner who shows for the ball and knows how to use it, a John Stones type, would be an absolutely ideal partner.

What exactly do you mean here?
"Wasn't great"
"Bad game"
"Mistakes"

Were did you see anything of the sort? at the game?

I was watching the stats on Fotmob. At half time he was the second highest.
His recovery remains excellent.
He has a powerful shot in him
He nearly made it to the goal line to stop the clown show by everyone else for the 1st goal
He got unfairly booked.
Was hooked at half time for tactics.

Was he motm? No. But he was more than acceptable.

Genuine question btw. What mistakes ?

People might not see it now, but Dias isn’t the player he was and all the barking and backslapping in the world isn’t going to make up for that.

That's a bit much, he's had a slight downturn in form this season like quite a few others in the squad for various different reasons.

He's 27 and there's nothing to suggest it's terminal.

He's not ready mentally, nor technically. He's not looked bad, but Gvardiol in his natural position is absolutely a better choice. Lets let him settle in.
