He's been a squad member for two years now but hasn't had a run of regular starts. Today would surely have been the game for him to play and rest Silva for Tuesday. Pep can't keep using the quality of the squad as an excuse not to play him when the sides he's picking aren't performing.

This would be unpopular, but if I'm Foden, I'll strongly consider leaving. Sometimes you just aren't as respected in your home. You have to go out to be a man.
Mate, I'm not having a go for argument sake but I'll just let you into something you may be aware of but most probably won't understand, you being a relatively newbie American blue. No disrespect meant bud.

Phil Foden is local, yeah you already knew that pal. By local he was brought up on a rough council estate in Stockport, Greater Manchester North West England.. Probably an old fashioned rare type of kid who used jumpers for goalposts or dribbling round estate dustbins(trash cans instead of blistering fingers and thumbs playing FIFA footy or FIFA manager games; )

Most probably daydreaming he was emulating David Silva wizardry, or possibly thinking he could outdo Kinky's mazy hazy pisstake goal(you may be aware of) before cooly slotting home between two dustbins. He's far too young to have ever seen kinkladze play of course, and the likes of fairly recent past City greats in Berkovich and Ali Benarbia too. But no doubt his City mad family would have told him tales of what it feels like to be City through and through, the history of our club, former great players and many more bobbins players. Google the word bobbins. I think you'd like it. It's a Mancunian word associated with our industrial past. A word kind of endearing to players we liked but had a fraction of Foden's promise and ability: ).

Phil Foden is City through and through alright, but is far from considering being through. The clubs fabric has become etched into him. The clubs DNA are in him and him the club. He lives and breathes Citeh! He's a massive Stockport Bertie bluenose Dax. Like I said the lad is City through and through, yet he's far from through.

He's going nowhere for the considerable future, and his immediate future is City. Sometimes football means more to a footballer than the lure of overseas extra money and brighter lights at famously glamorous clubs. He already has the cash to retire a decent lifestyle providing his money is invested wisely, I very much doubt another club worldwide can temp Phil Foden right now, even on double money and guaranteed first team starts. Ok, he's not getting the minutes many think he deserves, especially blues who post on Bluemoon as many have stated. But Pep Guardiola and his trusted backroom staff know this lad is top drawer, he'll get his chance to grad the shirt and keep it, he knows that Pep knows that, most of us think that.

He is blue through and through and finds it an honour and privilege to pull on the shirt for real and play for his club and his family's club who've been blues for donkeys years.

He has to go nowhere to be a man mate, especially when he'll become a man proudly wearing the sky blue of Manchester City FC! : )

Most of this reads like wishful thinking. I don't think he's going anywhere fast but his progress in terms of minutes is plodding along at a snail's pace and there's only so much time him being a relatively local lad will buy us.

He's got his entire life to support City and he's got maybe a little over fifteen years to make the most of his career.

Foden is the 2nd best attacking mid at the club on present form. Dave and Raheem should not be starting ahead of him, talkless both.

They are Legends, but Phil is currently in superior form.

Eddy

Walker/Cancelo
Dihno
Otamendi/Garcia
Mendy

Rodri
Bernado

Mahrez
Kevin
Foden/Jesus

Jesus/Aguero

Those are currently 14 best players...
I don’t see him deciding to leave unless nothing changes next season. Pep has made numerous comments about not going into the market to replace Silva because we have Phil. So I think Foden will wait to see who gets David’s minutes in the centre. And nobody would be surprised if it’s Gundogan/Bernardo.

If football means more to him, then surely he’d be looking at leaving and actually playing some football ?

Hed probably be moving somewhere for less money as well.

Wishful thinking? Lol. Ok I get your point and I too am guilty of wishful thinking, as well as Foden; )

Granted his progress in terms of minutes played may indeed be argued by most blues is that of snail pace currently, but I see it as tortoise and hare situation. Plodding along for now till he's fully unleashed to start big games regularly. Silva is almost nearing the end of a fine career, Foden is still near the start of a fine career, much dedication and desire needed, and staying fit and healthy permitting of course.
He already has the energy of a mad march hare, the lad is busting a gut, it's as though he is trying too hard. Pep knows this and himself and co are fully aware of too much too soon potential burn out. I'm not a gambling guy but if I was I'd wager a bet Foden will be here, let's say next 3 full seasons. Wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a one club man. Providing he's happy and still fulfilling his hopes and ambitions of course, which I presently see no reason why he won't do in future for us.

And I also agree to a point that time and money won't necessarily mean he'll be here longterm, It's just that you can see it in his body language how much City mean to him, and that is worth more money than ruing the day he me have if he ever left in haste with unfulfilled ambitions surely?

If I had his chance I'd not want to play anywhere else for 10x his salary or guaranteed salary, even for a guaranteed starting position.

Piano Man spurned us for the lure of extra money and signed saying “I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world". Lol what a fuckin' reneging bullshitter he turned out to be, and he most probably rues every single day since him and his avaricious agent bent his hear to sign for the rags. When you're already filthy rich, many football players will prefer counting trophies won to millions earned, (or not earned in his case), especially after they've retired.

Foden will have financial advisors no doubt. He'll also have advice, both from the club, a fatherly figure in boss Guardiola and his own Father family and friends. Plus the love of blue well wishers obviously means what only he knows right now.

Having read about him he strikes me as a modest down to earth lad who's sole motivation is not fame n' fortune. He loves He loves this club deeply. He likes fishing to escape pressure and unwind, and in particular Catfishing on the Ebro in Spain. I might let him take me and offer my 49 years angling experience and 16 years 10 trips or so angling expeditions to Spain and Italy in pursuit of real river monsters, for a nominal fee and freebie trip of course.

Now I really am wishful thinking mate: )
