And has been for some time...Call me biased but he is already light years ahead of any of England’s attacking midfield.

I get this but as an England manager you've got to determine the quality and importance of the games. Last season he started against Spurs and Leicester in must win run in games, started games in the CL against German teams, dominating against them exactly same teams Sancho is being lauded for. Cup finals and community shield games he's took in his strideDoesn't mean anything when he's only started 2 premier league games before lockdown.
Being better than someone is completely useless to an England manager if you don't play. If Phil is going to get ahead of these other competitors for his place, he needs to be playing nearly every game, whether it's off the bench or from the start.
Hopefully he will from now on.

Good points made, I for one wouldn't clamour for his inclusion. Was more looking at it from an England managers point of view, where I'd look at technical ability, spacial awareness and attitude not appearances. I do think conversations have taken place between Pep and Southgate re the need to wait until his physical development had improved, we can see this more and moreYeah but 1 game against Schalke isnt the same as 50 games against teams as good as Schalke.
There has to be a body of work, and it's not just about ability, it's also about handling things going to shit, handling a very different kind of pressure to playing in a dead rubber or against Oxford.
Pep even said this himself about why he couldn't play Maffeo even though he was as good as the RB options we had in 2016/17 - he just didnt trust him because he hadn't played enough.
Frankly I dont know why anyone is clamouring for Foden to be shoved into the national side. It's going to give him 100x more shit to deal with, more pressure, less patience because he wont want to lose his spot and he will miss out on games for City because he will need rest.
Let it happen when it happens, hopefully when hes a regular starter for is with 50 league games under his belt.
I think you've got it backwards. Let me re-read again...As a City fan, I want the best for my team which doesn't always mean starting Phil.
As an England fan, I want the best for my team which absolutely does mean calling up and starting Phil.

Yeah, you've got it backwards :)
