KDB starts most games. Gundogan is a Pep favourite. Aour won’t be happy coming to sit on the bench and Bernardo will want minutes as well. Foden would be at the bottom of the list the play in midfield. He will be rotated with Sterling, Mahrez and Torres out wide and it will be a waste.

Who is this Aour, you and Tevez City talk about?

Or did you just copy his incorrect spelling?

I may be wrong but I think Phil has been paired ONCE with KDB in central midfield and we beat Liverpool 4-0. Why wouldn't you try that combo a 2nd time ? I have watched City for 50+ years and this kid is incredible. If Pep plays him in Lisbon I think we have real hope in the Champions League.

You are indeed wrong. Rodri, Gündy and KDB were the midfield three in that game.

I thought he was very good again yesterday. How many other young players in the league can play centre mid, right wing and centre forward and take it all in their stride??

This lad is truly something special. amazing performance and ran his socks off.

I suggested prior to the game that Pep might start Foden in Bernardo's role at Bernabeu which he did. Thought he did very well.

Foden was patient enough and Pep is awarding him by starting him against the best teams around. Think he will score another goal in the CL this season.

Phil carried out Peps master plan to perfection last night , Pep wanted energy and running to pin Madrid back and that's exactly what Phil gave him, 60 mins of energy in an unfamiliar role, the plus being it shows that Phil can adapt his game to what Pep and the team need in certain game situations .

Last night Foden ran about as much over 65 minutes as Sane used to run over 90 minutes. His work rate is on a wholly different level to Sane's.

Pep picked Phil in his first eleven to start against Real Madrid in a very tricky game that could easily have been lost given the quality of the opposition and their record in the competition. He was asked to do a certain job and he did it and ran himself into the ground.

I really do not think any signings will see Phil being sat on the bench more than anyone else next season. People always seem to forget the amount of games we play, plenty for everyone even in City's squad.

At the end of the day what ever happens in Lisbon come the start of next season Pep will be aiming to win the lot....he will be doing his level best to assemble a squad that can do just that, and to have a chance it means even our best players will need to spend a good number of games sat on their arse.

Lets not forget Phil will without doubt now be looking at more games because Mr Southgate will be calling him in the next few weeks because he knows he needs to give him some international minutes. Despite what some say Southgate is far from stupid a damn good international manager who the players love, and he knows that Foden could be the key to winning the Euros next summer and quite possibly the World cup.

The time for flapping about Foden is past if ever there was a time. His time has come and I have no doubts its going to be a privelage to watch his career unfold.

After last night I'd like to see him playing as a false 9 even more.

He was brilliant and his work rate is incredible.

I love his ability to create half a yard for himself and with his finishing ability I think he'd score bucket loads from that position. He just ghosts into the right areas and has so much composure around the box. While when he comes deep his awareness and touch just effortless.

You can see why the youth coaches at City stopped trying to coach him. He's unbelievably natural.
