Excellent point. Nigel Gleghorn coached him at u14s I think & told me what amazed everyone was; whatever football problem they gave him, he figured it out in an instant. It’s always been thought that it’s his footballing brain will set him apart from just being brilliant to potential elite world class.
World class is what i thought at 16 yrs of age.He just had it.

Just watching or did you have the privilege of coaching him?

One of my pals was the person who first recommended him to City. Phil recently reached out to him, invited him to his house etc & was extremely grateful for starting him on the path he’s now on

The kid is a class act

There were a few posters on here back in the day who were drawing our attention to the kid in the yputh team known as the stockport Messi.i first saw him play on his debut in America...Breathtaking skill set.My own favourite all time player for City was Paul Lake, and to this day it hurts that i didnt see more of his midfield skills. Lake also used to to glide around the pitch, and was pure class.
Ive been on these boards for years stating that Foden should be in our team, partly because i missed out on Lake best years due to his injury. There is nothing like having a home grown midfield genius playing for your team...when Foden emerged, i was desperate to see the ,lad play.A Magician. A Mancunian Magician.
The Future is bright, the Future is Foden.

To add to my class act comment about how he’s embraced my pal who started him in his journey, I also have videos from a couple of years ago, where Phil has walked past a mates in Edgeley & ended up spending time having a kick around with his son who was maybe 6 or 7 at the time. The kid will take that experience with him to the grave.

Phil seems to just love having a kick around & the ball at his feet. Class act & I don’t think he’ll ever forget his roots

Yeah i think that vid made the MSM!
Foden is class, happy he has made the first team, hope he stays there for a long long time. Two footed goal scoring midfielders eho also assist, and glide around the pitch dont come along very often.
The most pleasing aspect of his game ,for me,is his desire to score goals.Do damage.Make a difference...and pressure does not seem to worry him.
Fantastic times ahead.

MSM? What’s that?

Fantastic indeed :)

Special player. With hopefully Haaland and Dias, we have a spine of players there that could lead us to a decade of dominance.

Even the technique on the finish tonight was superb by him. Two sitters missed from his created chances and once again popping up with an important goal

Don't usually comment on these player threads, just my opinion but find they're prone to hyperbole after individual performances. Making an exception here to say that this guy reminds me of why I enjoy watching football. Supreme confidence with initial instinct to go forward and not necessarily take the easy option, combined with the level headedness and the love story of doing what he's doing for the club he adores...i absolutely love this little magician. That was Dave, you say? Quite right. But this guy is a heir to that throne.
